Default Tile Question:

I bought a box of the bottichino tiles from Lowes and stamped with staz-on and colored with fabrico markers/sharpies.....but to use these as coasters do I have to spray it with the sealer or do I want to leave it plain so the water absorbs or something else entirely...help!! The color does not wipe off so it is dry (I made them last night), but I did want to do some with chalks as well so......

Thanks for the help!!!

I just baked mine at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. No sealer. Sealer prevents the tile from absorbing the glass's moisture.

Default another Question

So does the baking set the markers, ink pads and chalk? I want to give them as a gift, but don't want the color to wash out when they use them...Thanks for all your help!!

If you use chalk, you HAVE TO SEAL THEM. You cannot just bake the chalk, it will come off. I seal mine with Patricia Nimock and they don't fully absorb water, but they work great. There may be little drops, but they dry fast and I have no issues with mine. I've been using mine for over a year and the scans in the gallery were just done last week. They haven't lost their luster and they are used every day.[/b]
