composition notebooks
does anyone have the directions for making the altered composition notebooks
i went to stamp camp on sunday and someone had one for show and tell...it came with a matching pen...my daughter would love one!! thanks! |
You pretty much just cover it with paper. I line up the paper with the binding... pre-stamped if desired. I round the paper over the edges and use a very strong adhesive to hold it. then I line the inside. you can alter it depending on the design. I also like to Paint the binding to match.

The easiest way to cover these is to use a permanent glue stick with scrapbook paper and trim carefully around the edges. Cardstock is too thick. I use a contrasting scrapbook paper for the binding. Then embellish as desired.

Actually I use SU cardstock all the time... you just need a strong adhesive. Sticky strips or glue lines work great. I use a bone folder to polish the edges too.

I've used our SU! glue stick with CS and its works great!! I was using sticky strip, until my upline showed me how great the glue stick actually held! I was as surprised as anyone, let me tell you. If you are using the cardboard cover composition note book, the glue stick works great. But if you are using one of the others that has a black, harder cardboard (mat board) type cover that's heavier, I would definitely use sticky strip.
I have made tons of journals, just haven't gotten around to posting some of them yet. They are so much fun, and make an impressive gift. DD had a birthday party to attend on the weekend, so we made a notebook covered with designer paper, and then stamped the birthday girl's initials on whisper white, matted onto a coordinating colour, and place them just off center. Throw in a matching pen, and you have a quick, easy gift. Good luck, you will love love love making them!! I am addicted, my DH said to me one day, "what are you going to DO with all these journals/address books??" Geeze, I really didn't have an answer...just look at them I guess! Sure came in handy at Christmas time, though, when I needed a quick gift. |
