Ok, I love coloring my images... right now my only option is watercoloring with my aqua painters. I am interested to know what your favorite way to color your images is. I would love to get some colored pencils, what do you think?

i haven't branched out in that area (yet!)

i just use my SU! many marvelous markers! or a blender pen w/ ink or chalk

Riley, my favorite way to color is with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. The colors are so bright and vivid and it is so easy to get shading the intensity you want.

I also enjoy using the blender pens to pick up color from the watercolor crayons.

I also love to color....guess I didn't get enough of it as a child. In my studio I am lucky to have lots available. I generally use my SU watercolor crayons, to put a light wash of the color on the image, and may even add some shading. After that is dry, I pull out my Prisma color pencils and brighten and blend the colosrs. Prisma has a colorless blender that makes this easy. I even some add a touch of gamasol.

I think the world of coloring is limitless, waterbased markers -like SU-, alcohol markers, like Pannatone or Copic also have colorless blenders.

I have some examples of some coloring on my blog...pears and apples, from Ellen Hutson. on two separate cards. These might give you ideas or you can pm me and I will give you more tidbits of help.

There are limitless ways to color your art. You can use an aquapainter or watercolor brush with the ink refills, watercolor pencils or crayons, regular Prismacolor pencils and solvent.

I did a mini-tutorial on my blog outlining how you can use a marker and colored pencils to get vibrant color on white cardstock. Nothing ground-breaking... just another option for you.

Prismacolor pencils, gamsol and stumps for me. I want to do some watercolor too but when I travel in the car the pencil method is more controlled and easier to transport. Almost everything in my gallery is pp and gamsol!

I love to watercolor, use colored pencils, chalk pencils, markers, etc. There so many different ways you can color your images!!! The medium I select usually depends on the results I want, tho. :grin:

I too love every coloring medium there is...I love that there is so much variety to choose from. My fave this yr has got to be Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. My pencils sat around for a long time without being used but now I'm happy to say they are being kept busy LOL

I've also heard from a little birdie (coughbeatecough) that we'll have a fabulous tutorial on coloring with alcohol-based markers in a few weeks! :D

YEAH..cannot wait for that one...they are my favorite way to color an image right now.

But I gotta say--I also love wc crayons, prisma pencils and gamsol too. I have the prisma markers and I love the boldness of the color (for some images) and my copics are coming soon! yeah!

I'm new at all of this but I've tried the watercolor wonder crayons with the H2o pens. I'm also getting started with the prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I really like this best because I can control the shading easier. I also have the SU pastels which I have no idea how to use. I don't have any markers....yet. I'm trying to figure out what "Copics" are. :o)

Copics are alcohol based markers, and a preferred coloring instrument among professional graphic artists.

I color lots of ways depending on what look Im going for with my card. I really like using blender pens and chalks. If I want bright, bold colors, I either use my SU markers or my prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I also love painting with twinkling H2O's.

Coloring images
 

I find coloring images very relaxing.
I like to use my Copic markers, colored pencils w/gamsol, Twinkling H2O's, chalks and watercolor crayons. I have taken Ranger's Liquid Pearls, squeezed a little on a palette, added a squirt or two of water and used it to paint.

Pencils
 

Ae Prismacolor Pencils the same as watercolor pencils? If not, how are they different? I have watercolor pencils but I want something more vibrant also.

I think the prisma are different, they are more vibrant, but I think you need something like a blender pen or use gamasol rather than the water to blend. I have been thinking about buying these so I would like to hear about the differences between the two. Have you looked at the prismacolor website?

Prismacolor Pencils come in regular and watercolor. The gamsol method makes use of their regular pencils, which I believe are referred to as "Premier", not their watercolor ones.

Yes. The Prismas are wax based. Watercolor pencils are not.

Absolutely, positively, no-doubt-about-it...Prismacolor pencils with OMS for me! I use markers once in a while, but I don't care for the water based ones. I don't seem to have the touch for good watercolor. I have used oil based pastels with OMS and it works well too, but hands down...my best results are with the Prismas.

What is OMS?

OMS = Odorless Mineral Spirits

thks - I should have known..... I use OMS to with color pencils - another alternative to watercolor pencils and aquacrayons. Kinda depends what kind of mood I'm in as to which one I grab.
