Default Joseph's Coat Technique, help!

I'm just trying Joseph's Coat Technique for the first time. Everything seems to go very smoothly until I get to the end. When I wipe off the excess black ink, it seems to wipe off too much! I find you can really see the spectrum colors underneath (I mean everywhere but the embossed image too!). If I only wipe on the embossed image, there are smear marks around the edges. Has anyone had this problem? Is there anything I can do to fix it? Thanks for your help!

Are you using the brayer to apply the black ink? That is what I use, and I have not had the problem you are talking about. That is such a bummer!

I had the exact same problem, and I did use a brayer with black StazOn ink. I'm interested to know if there's a way to avoid this.

I wish I knew a way to help. I use my brayer with the rubber attachment (the one it came with) and the SU Classic Basic Black ink. Then I use a paper towel to just rub over the images that I had previously embossed.

Ink does take a little time to dry on the glossy cardstock. You could just let it sit for a few minutes first.
