colored tissue paper
 

Does anyone know of a technique that uses colored tissue paper?

I can think of a few. There was a technique I learned years ago called "Bleeding Tissue" or something similar. Basically, you put several pieces of colored tissue paper on top of a piece of glossy card stock, then mist them. Let them sit until almost dry, then remove the tissue. Makes easy, colorful backgrounds. One note: not all tissue will bleed. The one I used to buy that was guaranteed to bleed was the Spectrum brand from Michael's.

You could also use it to imitate stained glass by paper piecing.

If your image is bold enough, I don't see why not. I always say, you never know until you try! :)

Not really a card technique, but I use it in art classes with kids all the time and I am sure you could use it to make cool bakcgrounds. Cut your tissue paper in small squares, mix 1 part white glue to 2 parts water (maybe a little less) and use a paint brush to paint the tissue with glue, sticking it to a stiff piece of paper (I use bristol board cut into smaller pieces). IT gives the paper a stained glass kind of look, I often have the kids make "stained glass" pumpkins or poppies, great way to decorate a classroom but could be a good card technique quite easily

Still trying to get it right

We used to do this on clear jars or vases, they make PRETTY votive holders!

You can stamp the tissue paper, get a candle. Hold stamped tissue paper against the candle, use a heat gun and heat the tissue paper until the tissue paper adhere's to the candle, let cool. Now you have a beautiful candle.
