smooching or smooshing? Smooching might be another name for the Kissing method of stamping where you ink up a large background stamp, then use that as your stamp pad to ink up your other stamp so it has that texture on it. Smooshing is where you take a stamp and give it a small twist after you push it down, like with Roses In Winter, you take the stamp, ink it up, push it down, then turn it 1/8-1/4 inch while still on the paper.
