Plaid maker help

Hi, I've used the plaid maker before with the sponges but was looking for some tips on using it with the foam brayer. If you start with the lightest color do you have to wash it out before you change colors? Or can you just roll it around and get off the extra ink and then go to a darker color? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wash my brayer off before going into the second color. I guess I don't want to muddy the colors. I just ordered a second brayer so that I don't have to wait for the other one to dry before finishing my plaid.

I used the foam brayer. I washed it out b/t the colors and dryed it with a paper towel. It worked fine!! I using soft subtles... I do have to say that this was my first time using the palid maker and I LOVED IT!! It was so cool!!!!

I have to say that I have been using the plaid maker since it first came out. I have tried many different techniques to make it easier, quicker, darker....etc. After many failed and frustrating attempts, I have decided that it is not something you can do quickly unless light color is what you are going for. I have also found that it made my life simpler to just have a foam insert for each color. The latter is especially true for stamp camps! I just make sure to mark the brayer handles with the color the foam insert is being used for. If you are stenciling a piece of cardstock smaller than the stencil itself, I secure the cardstock with a small amount of mono-adhesive (snail) to my work surface and It keeps the paper from moving around underneath the stencil.

Hi! I've used the plaidmaker at a stamp camp and at our retirement party (just to demo). For the stamp camp we did a one-sheet wonder with the plaidmaker sheet (everyone made their own 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of plaid, then I cut for the projects) we just passed around the color of the moment with the sponge brayer to everyone, then washed out between changes and I roll the sponge brayer on a towel to get as much water as possible out.
For the retirement party, they just used a 4 x 5 1/4 piece for a background of a card. I had these ready (by plaid making full sheets)except for one that I finished the last color with just to demo. I've actually sold 4 or 5 of the plaidmakers just from these 2 times we've used it.
I really like it's versatility!
It would be a great idea to invest in more than one sponge brayer attachment!
