Default Chipboard

I've bought the SU lowercase alphabet chipboard....but I don't know how to use them. I've seen SO many cute examples, but since it's a cardboard color, do I need to paint it before I stamp on it? What type of paint do I use?

What other things can I do with it? I love the way it looks, I just need to figure out how to use it.

TIA

Here is a tutorial using patterned paper to cover your chipboard. I was just as confused until I read this. Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
You can stamp, color, paint or pretty much do whatever to your chipboard. I've even used my craft ink directly on the chipboard to "color" it if that makes sense. It will take a few min to dry but it looks cool. You can use acrylic paint (the cheap kind you buy for a buck or like making memories paint) to paint your chipboard as well. Or you can stamp directly onto your chipboard.

I hope this helps! Good luck and post your projects in your gallery!
