chalk board technique??
 

can anyone explain to me how to do this technique, what you need to do it, etc???? i tried doing a search, but didn't find anything. thanks!

Not sure if this is the one you're talking about, but I'm doing one at my workshop this weekend. On black cardstock stamp the bold stamp with Whisper White craft ink (I'm using Bold Butterfly), color with Stampin' Pastels, then stamp the outline with White Craft. It's a beautiful technique and a real WOW! The one I am making is being mounted on Lavender Lace and tied with a lavender ribbon. HTH

Now, do you use something disposable to chalk up your stamped image (like Q-tips)? I'd imagine, if the ink is still wet when you chalk it, that it makes quite a mess...

Actually, I used the applicators that came with the pastels for this sample, but I am taking Q-tips for the workshop. Daubers can also be used. When the rest of you try this, please don't forget to upload your creations! Can't wait to see them.

calgramma - your card is beautiful! One question, do you apply the chalk when it is still wet right? Just want to make sure!

Yes...I wanted to be 100% sure of that, too. This technique is still on my "to do" list. ;) Not sure what set I'll use, since I don't have the butterfly one. I'm such a CASE-er. :rolleyes:

Nicole, I would think ANY 2-step stamping set like that would work, something that has a bold stamp and a coordinating outline.

i used simply circles. it doesn't look as good as bold butterfly, but it works. i just used the medium sized circle outline, and shadow.

Calgramma, thank you! I cased your idea and tried this technique- I love it! I ended up doing a card with it at my stamp camp, and made it for my swap card for my demo team swap. Once my card upload is approved, I will try and attach it here (I couldn't attach it as a thumbnail from my files). Otherwise, it will be in the Petal Prints gallery. Thanks so much!

:confused: Okay, I just made a mess and there is no redeeming it. Let me see if I understand the process.

1. Stamp the bold image in white.
2. Color the image with pastels...I used the applicators...while ink is still wet.
3. Stamp the outline in white.

Is that correct? If so, how do you keep from getting a mess?

Okay Ladies....this is how I did it.....

1. Stamp the bold image in white craft.

2. Use the pastels with either Q-tips, the applicators or the daubers. You have to it in kind of a swirling motion and try not to get off the white.

3. Usually, I start at the inside and work my way out....then by the time I have all the images 'colored', the first ones are dry enough to go back and apply the outline....also in white. I then let it set for a bit (or hit it with the heat gun) before I try to attach the layer or put ribbon or other embellishments on.

HTH and I look forward to seeing more examples of this from all you guys as you try it and LOVE it like I do. It's always a WOW at a workshop!

I think this is the only one I have done. Only used white ink. The little colored flowers are brads.
