CE help
O.k. those of you who are masters of Crystal Effects. I have a few questions about using it.
If you are putting it on a large area, what do you use to spread it and make it look nice and even? If I am going to punch out a bunch of little squares and CE them, could I actually CE a big area, let it dry and then punch out the squares? Or is this too hard? TIA. I have only mastered using a dot of CE here and there!!:) |
Hey Mel,
Not sure about the 2nd ?, but for the first just use the tip to spread and the CE will self level. HTH! Darla |
I use a small artist paint brush to smooth it on large areas for a light glossy finish. You should be able to punch the c/s after applying(if only a light layer was applied). If it is too thick, I think it would chip around the edges when being punched out. Haven't tried punching it...just my guess.

oops! Forgot to put in my last post you can color it with re-inkers, add glitter or pearl-ex to it before applying with a brush!

I have only mastered using a dot of CE here and there!!:) If so, I pool it into the center of the punched out image, and then use a stylus to drag it to the edges. It will then level out, as it dries. If you need a higher "loft", apply another coat when the 1st is completely dry. Depending on how thickly the CE is applied, you could really struggle with getting a clean punch, and could potentially gum up your punch, or get it "stuck", etc. If it's an very thin, painted on coat, probably no problem. |
Thanks all of you for your help!!
I was actually asking because I am going to try your faux mosaic technique Julie. But I am trying to figure out whether (with all of the CE and the tiny little squares) if it might be a little time consuming. It is for a swap and I would have to do 15 cards. Did you CE each little square individually? Thanks! |
