Default Tying bows and knots...

OK I am trying to case a card and it involves tying a bow with ribbon - something I am not good with...

Anyone have basic directions or know of a good website with step by step instructions on how to tye a bow...

I am looking to tie a bow so you have 2 loops and the "extra" goes downward

also I am looking to tie a knot where the ends go along vertically with the ribbon and not horizontal to the ribbon...

any help

Jenni-

Somebody posted this website not too long ago that has instructions on how to tie the perfect bow:

Hope this helps a little!

I saw that - but I am looking for instructions on how to tie a bow when you can't make holes - the kind where you tie it in the gutter of a card or tie it around cardstock...

Sometimes is you tie it upside down the ends of the bow point in the direct you need. I just play around with mine until it looks ok...I usually have pretty good luck with it, but if there are any tips or tricks, I would like to know too!

I found this site:
http://sewing.about.com/gi/dynamic/o...html%23anchor3

Scroll down to the bottom and see "shoestring bow".

Hope that helps.

Yea, I came up with the bow tie stuff at first.
Then I searched decorative bows and finally found that site.

Glad it's what you were looking for.

Have fun!

That's funny that you do it that way too!! My mom makes tons of bows and she has always told me to tie my bows upside down to get them to come out good. I even do it on the backs of my daughter's pretty dresses. Try it, it works!

I found a way that uses 2 sticks (pencils) and you wrap the ribbon around them. It has helped me tremendously. Hopefully I can get it attached here. I keep asking my husband to make me something that will hold the sticks but he hasn't yet. For now, if he is there I make him hold the pencils, markers, whatever. If he's not there I put them between my knees. But then I have to do it sideways which makes it a tad harder but so far they've come out pretty good.
