I haven't been here in a while but seeing all the new techniques and ideas has inspired me!! I want to make bottle cape jewelry and other things. I saw this item on ebay and I'm wondering what the image is. Is it a sticker, a printed image with the resin over it...... Any ideas??? I've seen the bottle caps with the image on the inside but this looks like it is on the top of the cap. Thanks!!

Looks like a cut out image and then filled with resin or such. Most of the messages I've read on splitcoast about bottle cap embellishments were made using Crystal Effects. Glue down your image and then squeeze on the Crystal Effects to fill up the space and let dry. If you stamp with classic ink, cover the image with clear packing tape before adding the Crystal Effects otherwise it will cause the ink to change colour.

Thanks for the responses. Merr, the link you posted is great, thanks so much. But I am still wondering how to attach something to the top of the bottle cap, not the inside. The link I posted has the design on the top, I think. Any additional info would be great. Thanks!!

I would use a 1" circle punch and punch out the image you want, then use a Xyron or some sticky tape to adhere it to the bottle cap. Top it off with a sticky page pebble, or with crystal effects and you're set to go. Is that what you mean?

The lesson showed how to do the top and the inside. The top part was the blue side of the bottle cap. :)

Thanks again for the responses. I have been playing around with the bottle caps and they are just so much fun!! Another question: how do I get a clean hole punched through for jump rings? I have tried an awl but the ole does not come out clean and the rim of the flattened cap buckles a bit. Thanks!!

I am still looking for a way to punch a clean hole through the bottle cap. Also, I use clear embossing powder over the picture and get hundreds of small bubbles. Larger bubbles I can pop with a pin but what about the small ones???? HELP!!!!!!!!! LOL TY TY TY

I use a regular hand-held punch ... 1/16th" size. I'm sure one of these days I'll break the punch doing it, but so far it has worked for me.

You mean a regular paper punch???? I have tried everything but that. I actually tried the McGill's 1/16" punch which is pretty sturdy and that didn't work either. I am now using my husbands cordless drill with a 1/16" drill bit. But I would like to find something a little lighter. LOL

This is exactly what I use.

The cropadile will punch through anything easily and is perfect for this.
