Bleaching techniques
 

Could someone send me some different bleaching techniques.

I don't know if anyone has p.m.ed you this info or not. Two basic techniques:

1: fold up some paper towels or napkins in a dish, mix bleach and water and soak them. Then use them as you would a stamp pad, but you make need to shake off some of the excess liquid or your image could be smeared. One interesting thing I learned about bleach at a stamp camp: the demo had set up her stuff for the show the night before and had the "bleach pad" ready to go in a tupperware container but when we went to use it, it didn't work. We learned from a science teacher if bleach is exposed to light for an extended time it looses it's effectiveness (that's why the bottles are white). Interesting huh?

2: clorox beach pens are wonderful for shading in a stamped image.

I'm sure if you type bleach in the search box in the gallery you'll find bunches of samples.

I've filled an Aquabrush with bleach and used it to bleach out the inside of an embossed image. You can either leave it whatever color the cardstock turns, or color it in using markers, chalk, etc. It's a good way to get a lighter image on a dark cardstock. 8)

I was thinking that I would get the aqua painters for bleaching-it's a little better advertisment than clorox bleach pens, although I know a lot of people that use the clorox bleach pens.

I just had a bleach pen brought up from the US by a friend who was traveling. They are not available in Canada. I found it a little goopy, but squirted some on a paper towel and dabbed my stamp into it. I think I will also try liquid bleach in a water pen.

I have used a clorox bleach pen on my laundry and it does get messy, but I have heard of several people using them stamping. I think I will try the aqua painter brushes, hopefully they aren't too messy!! :wink:

You can also put bleach in a spray bottle and spray the cardstock for an all over speckled look.
You don't want to leave bleach in the spray bottle though because it will "eat" the spray nozzle.

The clorox Advantage bleach works good. It a little thicker than the regular clorox bleach, and seems to stick to the stamp better.

Old blender pens can be dipped in bleach & used like you might the aqua painters.

I thought everyone meant they used the bleach pens to paint on their stamps & then stamp the bleach!

I think Clorox Gel cleaner is better than lq bleach because it's not so...slippery/slidy/runny...the gel tends to stick to your rubber better. I hate going down to the laundry (a whole level of my house!) to get the bleach so I was kinda liking the bleach pen idea, but not to paint directly....Has anyone painted it on the rubber & then stamped??
