Bleach Help, PLEASE!!
 

I'm doing a class tomorrow and wanted to know what you put your bleach in before stamping???
I tried disposable aluminum pans, but the bleach "eats" through.
Quick, ANY helpers out there?

We just did this in our stamp club. Our demo used a plastic dish. May have been a carry out container from a restaurant?? I would try a thick plastic container since that is what bleach comes in. She lined it with a papertowel and then pored the bleach on the papertowel.

I always use a dampened paper towel in it, but do you think the carry out container will melt?

I use a square generic tupperware container I had in my cabinet. I poured the bleach in the container and then layed napkins inside to soak up the bleach and make a stamp pad. I then placed it in th iddle of the table. When I was finished I threw away the paper towels and put the container in the dish washer.

I use a Clorox Bleach Pen. The bleach is thick and stays on your stamp. The pen has two ends. A fine tip and wide tip.You can appy the bleach directly onto the stamp. I have also made a bleach stampin pad. I used a thick piece of felt.(White) I put it on a a plastic tray and used Clorox Advantage Bleach. It is thicker than regular bleach and is gel-like.
I really like both methods and they work well!

I take one sheet of papertowel and fold it in quarters, lay that on one of my sandwich plates (I have a Corelle set) and pour just enough bleach on the towel to dampen it, not saturate it. The bleach won't hurt the plate and I put it in the dishwasher after.

I use one of the cleanr plastic stamp boxes from SU. I put paper towels in the bottom to contain the bleach, stamp away, then toss the towels and rinse out the container. I like it because I can close the lid if the smell gets to me!

I think I have had the bleach dry in a container before, and it hasn't seemed to eat through the plastic in any way.

BTW, do you know why I do bleach techniques? So my DH thinks I am cleaning instead of stamping!

good idea, and lol on the DH trick, only mine knows there's nothing cleaner by the time I hit the hay!! :?

Stamp with bleach and run the vacuum and he's none-the-wiser LOL :wink:

Shannonlspears, sounds good-I could use larger ones for background stamps and smaller ones for tiny stamps. close them up and take home to the dishwasher! Yay :) Thanks

To add to this question... How do you clean your stamps after doing the bleach technique??? Do you just rinse them under water? Just making sure for the best health of my stamps!

I love the Bleach Gel pen idea... I think I am going to have to try it that way!

I just clean them on my cleaner pad sprayed with Mist Cleaner, but I also read to spray with vinegar and then the Stampin Mist.

Hope this isn't hijacking this thread. Does bleach expire? I tried bleach stamping with bleach that I've had for a while and it didn't work.

All I use it a small dessert size bowl from my everyday dish set. I've never had a problem with it leaving a bleach taste on my food after. I pour a little layer in the bowl, dip the stamp in, lightly stamp off of a paper towel, then stamp my CS.

I guess this only works with smaller stamps. Haven't tried it with big ones.

I just didn't want to chance anything breaking! If I'm at home, the plates and bowls are a good idea. Thanks ladies :D

This sounds weird, but the BEST way I've ever seen to bleach (and I've been doing it that way ever since) is to use a panty liner instead of a paper towel.
Think about it, it absorbs the bleach and then when you press against it like you would against an ink pad it releases just the right amount of bleach...
Like I said, sounds weird, but works amazingle well!

(I usually pour it into a glass dish, bleach doesn't react with the glass)

I pour bleach from my big bottle of bleach to a pint size jar. Then I apply bleach with a q-tip to my stamp or directly to my paper...it seems to not bleach through my paper this way. They will be amazed at the effect of this demonstration. :) I love to bleach stamp now!!!

I just tried using the Clorox Bleach Gel Pen, and it got all globby, and did not work at all. I'll have to try the pantiliner technique! :) Stampers always find way to utilize all products, that's for sure! :D

I've used it for class! Everyone always thinks it's so amusing... A nice ice breaker too if everyone doesn't know each other :lol:

baby food containers
 

I've been using the small plastic baby food containers for my bleach. I have just been putting a small amount in it, then tossing it when I'm done. I have used this with my blender pens that are dried up (just make sure you label them for bleach only). I haven't had a problem with the containers getting eaten by the bleach either.

Yes, it does expire. It loses it potency after 10 minutes or so....

Bleach doesn't really expire but it does have a half life. It loses it's potency after a while. So if you are using really dark card stock I'd make sure my bleach was newly purchased!

Too funny! I just learned that a really great way to apply chalk is with a tampon! I knew there were better uses for these things! Now we can purchase them all month long not just once a month!LOL LOL!
