Question Blocking

I've seen some cards in the gallery that use "blocking" - it looks sort of like you're looking through a 6 or 9-pane window. Is it done just by using strips to mask off the lines before stamping? Or is that waaaaaaaaaay too simple?

i have a couple color blocks in my gallery. they can be done 2 ways. To start out with I used a template from delux cuts
http://my-memories.safeshopper.com/129/cat129.htm?851
you trace your paper and then cut out and reput on your card stock.

or you can just do some blocks out of paper trying to make sure the edges are all equal.

great way to use up pretty paper or stamp on different papers. its a big craze with stamping as well.

I hope that helps a little.

I know what you are talking about (just can't think of the name of the technique), as I did it at a recent stamp camp. We used wax paper, a stencil, dry embossing was involved, and then versamark, and regular embossing. I will try and find out (from my demonstrator) what it is called and post it when I find out. It may be several days, but I will do my best to find out for you.

Is what you are looking for color blocking?

If so, here are some great instructions from Showmestamper (Beth) for a TLC Challenge:

Hope that helps!

I think you may be looking for Faux Tile. I did it at a recent stamp camp. I looked for the directions here but did not find them. I think my demo may have gotten from Pat's Junkies (?)

I found a sample! It was Roses in Winter, created by Jeanne Streiff. You should be able to see it here , if I did this right.

Thanks, I'll go to Technique Junkies and search for it.

WOW O WOW!!! What a gorgeous card... and over 5700 views

I scrolled through the comments (just so you know for future use, sometimes this can be very helpful in finding the information we seek)... and found the template Jeanne used... and a source for purchasing can be found here:

Hoping this helps.

Have a FUNtastic day!

I am far too lazy to tape out the grid and use templates from deluxe designs to do this
