Hello, all. I've been scrapping for years but new to this site. I'll probably screw up here somewhere. I've recently started embossing. I like the effect but how do I get all the powder off outside the image? I've used a dryer sheet without success.

I think alot of people use something called an embossing buddy. I know stampin up sells one, bu tI have seen them at Michaels, looks kinda like a small credit card sized pillow. I think it has special antistatic powder or somethung like that inside. I dont have one yet myself I keep forgetting to get it while im at michaels. I have tried cornstarch in a sock, but that desnt work for me.

Try "flicking" the back of the cardstock with your finger (make an "ok" sign and release the index finger). That'll pop a lot of it off. Embossing buddies do work, but they leave a residue on darker cardstock.
Also, avoid touching the cardstock as much as possible before applying the powder. If you have a moist hands, the powder will stick to the moisture. |
Sometimes even with a dryer sheet or embossing buddy I have had stray powder. One trick is to gently blow on the card before using the heat gun. Another trick I've used is taking a tiny watercolor paint brush to brush away what I don't want embossed.
