Attaching Wire to Cards
HELP! I just made a really cute card, and I used some wire to make "doodles" to frame a sentiment, but now I have no idea how to attach the wire to the card. If I use glue, it's going to be obvious, like a blob or shiny.
If any of you have any suggestions, PLEASE holler. I can't get the search engine to work right now, and I need the card done tonight. I will probably end up using glue and trying to be careful if nobody has a better idea......which I'm sure SOMEBODY does, right??? Thanks a bunch, as always. Sandy |
Hi! I'm sure others will have better ideas, but I've had no trouble using the glue by Making Memories for metals. It's for gluing charms, snaps or whatever to paper. I use a q-tip to apply a thin layer of the glue to my wire design and then press it onto my paper. The layer is thin enough that it doesn't spread or show on my paper. I then place something heavy (dictionary!) on top of my page to keep it pressed down while the glue dries. I haven't done this on a card, but have used it in my scrapbook pages and they stick permanently and I've gotten a lot of compliments on them. Hope this helps and good luck!

take another small piece of wire and make it into a U shape and pierce it through the paper each side of the wire (as close as possible to the doodle) and on the other side twist it together.
Hopfully that makes sense :p |

Sandy Crystal Effects (SU!) is great for this and comes with a very small tip for applying a tiny dot. It glues metal wonderfully, and won't warp your paper. If you don't have that, then how about a mini glue dot? Either of those will work well for you. HTH, Mary A. |

Thank you!
Thank you, ladies, for your great suggestions!
GRRR....I found that my Crystal Effects had dried up in the tube (it was a small, sample size). I'll need to get more. Now if I can remember where to get it locally. I ended up using a modified "staple" method. Started with the wire staples, but I could not get them tight enough to keep the doodles in place, so I used string staples (basically tied them on). I will post a picture. I think it turned out pretty good. Thanks again, everybody. You're great! Blessings, Sandy |
