Altered Clipboards
 

I have was wondering if anyone can please advice me on Altered Clipboards.I wanted to cover my board with DSP paper, and I am not sure if I have to put MOD PODGE over the paper as well .I know that if you used acrylic paint and Paper, according to the technique ,you will used Mod Podge to seal it . I was wondering if I need to used MOD PODGE over the DSP paper.I will not be using acrylic paint.I am going to used all DSP paper to cover the whole board.

If you want to use the clipboard after altering it, you might consider sealing it with Mod Podge. It will make it more durable. If you decide to use Mod Podge, use it for taping the paper down as well. It will cut down on the bubbles on your paper.

I have covered the clipboards using the SU glue stick and not done anything on top. If you'd rather not have a glossy finish on the top, glue stick might be the way to go! I have a sample of one on my blog (scroll to the Nov 16 post).

I am still struggling to figure out how to cut around the metal top portion to get a neat result. Any tips on this aspect? Thanks. Kathy

All of the clipboards out there seem to be different; so, what I'd recommend is to get a sheet of cheap printing paper and make a template out of it that you can lay over the paper you'll be decorating with.

If you don't want to deal with that, attach your paper from the clip down. Then take 2 small pieces of coordinating paper and attach them (one on each side) of the clip. With one piece of 12x12 you can cover one regular sized board. Just lay the clipboard over the paper and trace out the board. You'll have a large scrap piece left over. Trace the bottom portion of the board over that scrap piece, trace and cut out. You'll have smaller scrap pieces that you can then use to piece beside the clips. This works really well with double sided paper because you can use the coordinating pattern on the 2nd side to liven things up.

In case you haven't read it elsewhere, the corner-rounder punch is just right for the top and bottom edges if you don't want to cut them by hand.
