Default mini "squash" picture album

I'm not sure quite how to describe the mini album I've seen, but I am hoping someone will have directions on how to make it. They make wonderful gifts and may be called something other than "squash" books. Here goes:

(1) There is a front and back of the album made out of material that looks like sturdy like mat board that is tied shut with ribbon.
(2) as you open the front and back cover, there is a very long piece of heavy cardstock that folds out in a diamond pattern and on each "diamond" you can cut and paste you choice of c.s. for a background and then layer a picture or just journal. You can do this on the front as well as the back of the strip of paper.
(3) when closed, the mini album is whatever size "square" you want, possibly an even number i.e.: 4x4; 6x6; etc.

If anyone knows the proper name for the mini album I've tried to explain as well as directions or a template, I'd be grateful

Default Fold-Out scrapbook

One of my fellow demonstrators (Melony Bishop) recently held a Beyond Cards workshop. All of the guests made things other than cards. I think this is what you're asking about. I wish I had a picture of it to show you, but neither my scanner or my digital camera are hooked up to my computer right now.
I hope this helps!

Fold-Out Scrapbook

Dimensions:

Cardstock:

8 ½ x 8 ½ (x3) – Perfect Plum (scored at 4 ¼ both ways and then scored down one diagonal)
4 x 4 (x11) – White Squares (6 will be cut in half to make triangles)

Ribbon: 26 inches Grosgrain

Instructions:

Score (the black one) 3 pieces of the 8 ½ x 8 ½ Perfect Plum Cardstock at 4 ¼ on both straight sides (vertically and horizontally)
Score all 3 pieces of Perfect Plum Cardstock down ONLY ONE diagonal.
Lay the Perfect Plum pieces out on the table as diamonds with the scored diagonals pointing up and down. Line all 3 pieces next to each other with the right and left points overlapping each other to cover one of the scored squares (see sample)
Use Monoadhesive to adhere the three pieces together (see sample)
Fold the right and left diagonal scores back and the fold the middle diagonal score up. Use the samples to help you fold the other scores into place to make your scrapbook. (Ask for help if you need it.)
Stamp 11 pieces of 4 x 4 White Cardstock according to the samples. Use the Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, and Mellow Moss stamp pads. (See samples)
Using the orange blade, cut 6 of the stamped squares in half on the diagonal to make triangles out of them.
Use Monoadhesive to adhere the squares and triangles onto your fold-out scrapbook.
Tie the grosgrain ribbon around your finished scrapbook.
At home, adhere pictures to make a great keepsake or gift!
