Alphabits Tip!!
 

I was just reading the debate on Alphabits and Alphabets and was struck by a great idea:

You could also use the stamp-a-ma- jig to use the alphabits to write the same words as in EFP. You can take a window sheet, stamp each alphabet on it in Staz-on. Making sure to put the corner of the sheet into your SAMJ. Then you can keep it as a permanant reference sheet. Just place the window sheet on the paper so you can see where you want that particular letter. Put your SAMJ next to it, take the sheet away and stamp. Because you don't have to restamp the Alphabits every time you need to use it, it's pretty fast, faster than using the punches and adhesive.

I've been using these, but frustrated because sometimes I don't want the punched look. I thought SAMJ would be a pain, but then this idea struck out of the blue!! And, you can use it to fill in when you don't have words in the Everyday Flexible Phrases.

Another Newbie question - How exactly does the Stamp-a-ma-jig work?

You take the hard plastic part and put it on the work surface. Next, you take the clear sheet and stick it it the corner of the Stamp-a-ma-jig. Then you take whatever stamp you want to position and stamp it on the clear sheet (preferably in a light color...easier to clean later), taking care to place the wood block exactly in the corner.

Next, you take the clear sheet and move it over your card until you have the image exactly where you want it. Put the hard plastic part back up against the clear sheet. Move the clear sheet away, and stamp on the card, again taking care to place the wood block exactly in the corner.

Super easy!

What kind of adhesive is everybody using for the Alphabits when they are using the punches?

Okay, I was trying to figure out how this would work when all of the letters are inked from the pad, but you would just isolate the letter you want to stamp by inking with a marker, right? Duh! (I seem to be having so many of these "duh moments" here lately. Hard to believe I've been a demo for several years. :oops: )

If I'm just at home working on a project, I run the paper through my Xyron before stamping. Then stamp the Alphabits and punch them out.

Can't demo it that way though, so at workshops I use the Dotto (Hermafix) & tweezers because it's not permanent, so you can move it if you need to adjust it's location.

I have been using the mini glue dots. They are just the right size and you don't have to mess with glue.

I haven't sold a Stamp-A-Ma_Jig since we started selling Wheel Guides. They work as a wheel guide AND, if you connect them at an angle instead of directly in line with each other, they make a GREAT stamp positioner. I'm all for saving money and using a product that will do two jobs instead of one.

I'm going to have to try this in order to understand - I am soooo visual! I love these little alphabits and punches!

Okay - I tried it and love it and further note that now we can stamp words on our ribbon this way as well. . . too cool.
