Default address labels

(I hope I am putting this in the right forum)
I have clear laser labels that I want to print using my inkjet printer. I am having issues with the ink smudging. Can this be done? If so what are the settings I need to use? I have a HP C6150.
Thanks, I figured someone here might know before I used 10 or more sheets trying to figure it out! LOL

I print clear labels all the time on my inkjet printer and I'm trying to think of what might make yours smear. Is laser paper different than inkjet? My labels are usually Avery 8160 (I think that's the #, either that or 5160) and I haven't had any problems. I hope someone else has a more useful answer!

Default Printing on labels...

Inkjet and laser printers are quite different. If you have an inject printer you need to use the correct label. The ink will not ever dry if you are using laser labels. Laser printers use toner (dry) rather than wet ink. Toner is a heat set ink. You can tell the difference, the paper in a laser/toner machine will be warm.

Kind of repeating what's already been said, but . . .

When you're using clear labels, you absolutely positively need to buy the right kind for your printer - on the laser labels, if you print with an inkjet printer, the ink will never dry. With plain white labels, you can usually get away with using them in either printer because in the end, they're just paper.

Clear labels for inkjet printers are actually made from a transparent paper - they have kind of a matte finish, feel a little rough, and look a little "foggy" until you stick them down. If the labels you have are clear, feel smooth, and look more like clear packing tape, they're laser labels and they won't work properly in an inkjet printer.

With Avery labels, usually the 5### labels are for laser and the 8### are for inkjet, if that helps.

Same goes for trying to use inkjet photo paper in a laser printer - don't go there. The heat from the laser printer does bad bad things to the photo coating and you'll just end up with a mess.

*nods* I know it's been said..
laser and inkjet papers ARE different...
And I find if I set my paper quality to transparency.. as opposed to regular paper in my printer preferences .. then the printer does *something* and the clear plastic lables don't smear... I use them TONS...

I didn't notice anyone suggesting to use the "draft" setting on your printer. Good luck
