Adding stripes to ribbon?
I am almost certain that either I saw a thread here, possibly a blog, or maybe in a magazine on how to add stripes to your plain ribbon, and now I can't seem to find it in a search. Has anyone done this? Can anyone help me here, please?

I've done this a few times. I use white or vanilla (SU) grosgrain ribbon (any width), and SU! stampin' write markers. Just use a ruler and draw a line (or lines)lengthwise down your strip of ribbon before adhering to your project. I do it in both sides if I'm tying a bow and both sides will be showing. I use the bigger tip of the marker, but the thin end would work too, if you want thinner lines. It doesn't really need time to dry, but just be careful with the ruler, because sometimes the ink from the marker will bleed underneath the ruler, so the line looks a little blurred and not so crisp.

Adding embossed lines
You can also add embossed lines using your scor-pal or a cuttlebug embossing folder. It helps to add a bit of spray starch to the ribbon so the embossing sets well.

This gives me an idea. You could brayer ink on one side of the embossing folder, spray starch the ribbon, then run it through the Big Shot or whatever die/embossing system you own.
