Question paint thinner with prisma's question

Hi there. I'm new here. I went out and bought some prisma colored pencils and painter thinner because I saw how many of you use it. I love it!! I was just wondering if the paint thinner is safe is you are using pictures on your card or scrapbook? Anybody know? I'm working on a calendar for my mom and don't want any pictures to get ruined.

I don't know about using paint thinner... I would read the back first! But, I do know that it is relatively safe using odorless mineral spirits to blend Prismacolor pencils with. The leading brand name is Gamsol and another is Mona Lisa. The package should say odorless mineral spirits though, not paint thinner. I don't know the chemical compound of paint thinner so can't make any recommendations. The odorless mineral spirit is still a solvent though, so take precautions like closing the lid when not in use and don't use when pregnant, nursing or if you have a lung condition.

The kind I bought is odorless but it does say paint thinner, so I guess I'll have to go out and find Gamsol. They didn't have it at Michaels when I was there, but I've now looked it up online. Does anybody know if Gamsol is safe for pictures?

I also use the Mona Lisa odorless paint thinner but I have never used it in conjunction with a scapbook page, I have only used it on cards. The result is beautiful. But.... being a solvent I wouldn't think that it would be very good on your favourite Kodak moments. Maybe you could call or email the company that makes it to get the best answer. Or.....try it with a photo that you dislike & see what happens. Anyway it works. GOOD LUCK!
