Default Using Cricut to cut card base

I'll admit it. I'll spend hours setting up something so I won't have to do it by hand anymore. I have a few favorite card bases that I have used Cricut Craft Room to design. My Cricut cuts the base, then all the pieces of paper that I attach (for instance the Tri-Shutter Card Tri Fold Shutter Card Tutorial & Instructions by Bonnie Szwalkiewicz ) that way I don't have to cut it by hand all the time.

So, my question is how can I find JUST a straight line cut to use in my file. I am trying to program the Building Block Card base. I've got the rectangle, but I need the 8 lines that form the boxes.

Any ideas?

Default Anyone

It's looking like no one has an answer... bummer. I was hoping there was a shape out there that I couldn't find that I could use (like two slits or something)..... Anyone?

I'll make sure Dina sees it too - maybe she has an idea!

Ohhhhhh..... sadly, Dina knows nothing about digital cutters.... This is the answer that Cricut gives on their FAQ:

Q: I have 3 machines ( Original, expression and my baby the Imagine) - I would like to know how to cut a single straight line on a sheet of paper. My goal is to cut 2 single straight lines 4 inches apart starting from 2 inches from the edge of a 12X12 sheet of cardstock!!! HELP!! Where are the straight lines???????

A: Sorry, we don’t understand your question. If you’re just cutting straight lines, a trimmer is your best way to go.

I don't have a Cricut so cant try this out but there are instructions here for cutting bits off a shape using Cricut Craft Room.

How can you get rid of slits on the purse cut out. - Create a Critter Cartridge [2000099] - Cricut Forums

It sounds as if you might be able to put a rectangle on your mat then cut off and delete three sides of it leaving you with just a line. Then copy & paste that line as required.

Or could you 'squash' a rectangle to be so thin it basically cuts a slit?
