3D ornaments
Hi, Does anyone know how to make the ornaments on the cover of the Stamping Up holiday mini?
Thanks! |
I haven't seen the mini yet, but I'm guessing, since they're on trend right now that it might be a simplified version of this technique - Splitcoaststampers - Tutorials.
Apologies if I'm totally off the wall. But I'm planning to try this with the older SU ornament punch... |

Thanks! I sure do! I actually posted a free tutorial on my blog. The tutorial I posted is actually for a Halloween Ornament BUT the only difference between the 2 ornaments is that the Halloween Ornament I used Ribbon and for the Holiday Ornament- you use Tulle (instead of the ribbon). When you use the Tulle, cut a 20" long piece. Cut it in half lengthwise making 2- 20" pieces. Then cut the 2- 20" long strips into 10- 4" sections. My blog is in my signature :) |
Thank you!!!!
These are perfect. Thank you!!!

I wish I would have found this last week. I ended up making my own tutorial but I think I like yours better.

I actually just updated the tutorial yesterday so there are actually 2 tutorials on my blog. Basically the same- one is a halloween ornament and the other is the holiday ornament. I changed some of the directions as through my own trial and error I've found ways that work better than others. |
Length of time
My goodness ladies and gents, How long is it taking you folks to make these? Just wondering because I can't seem to make one in under 2 hrs. Of course that's counting the many coffee and bathroom trips!
|
I think it took me about 3 hours to do the one with the shortcuts - using DSP instead of stamping. It took closer to 6 hours for the one I did the stamping on. It takes me a long time to stamp and even longer when I cut out a stamped image with a framelit because of having to line up and center the framelit and the image.
|
Oh my goodness, that's an awful long time. I'm making several for package decorations as well as gifts. 2 hrs. in long enough for me!

I've got mine down to about 30-40 minutes for each ornament. But then again I've made WAY too many of them lol. The more you make the faster it goes! I promise! |
Well I've made a little over a dozen and still takes me 2 hours. Are you making the ones that take 40 stamped and die cut pcs? If so I must be extremely slow!

Yup, I guess I'm just very slow cuz I do exactly the same as you. Must be my old age!
|
I only made 2 of them, but I don't think it took me longer than an hour all together.. yes, the cutting is tedious, but once that's done, they come along pretty fast.
