Default TLC806 ~ No-Score Modern Grid ~ {08/03/2020}

How did it get to be August already? This sure is one strange year, without all the usual landmarks and signposts through the months.

I'm happy to be revisiting an old technique today - it featured as TLC229 way back in 2009 (you can view the gallery for that challenge HERE).
This is one of the many several faux tile/grid techniques around - I have also seen this one called "modern grid", and it doesn't require any scoring or cutting squares, unlike some of the other tile techniques. It's one I still go back to on a regular basis - it makes a great tiled background for bathroom and kitchen cards.

In my opinion it works best with smaller images, but if you check the linked gallery there are some lovely cards which use larger images.
My example uses smaller ones and m grids are about 5/8" square. If you use larger images, you might want to make your squares larger.

Based loosely on Lynn's original instructions, here's what you do.

Stamp your images randomly over a piece of cardstock.

If you have grid paper (and can find it, always my problem!) you can use that to help draw your gridlines. Three grids on mine turned out to be 5/8" inch, and I was happy with the look. I've usually used a black pen, but this time I used green to go with the foliage on my card.

As an extra option you can colour some (or all) of the squares.

Here's a link to our TLC806 No-Score Modern Grid gallery

Here's my card (if I find that it's possible to edit posts again!). If not, I'm not going to risk losing my photos, and will add it later on.
TLC806 A Humming Birthday

Remember to use the keyword TLC806 when you are uploading. It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

A technique that I probably wouldn't have done on my own...so it was a perfect challenge for me, Sabrina. Thanks. I agree, it would be great for kitchen or bathroom themed cards.

Heart TLC806 tea-riffic grid

Sabrina- your challenge is just what I needed for my card! For today's no-score modern grid challenge I stamped this card in 2 plum shades and a pink using my mini Misti- adding a penciled grid for my background. Added a bunch of dots for my oval framing, and a mini oval sentiment panel in the top left. Background is a diffuse blue green, and I added some texture with my corrugated purple off center panel. Finished with 2 hearts in the lower left corner. Here's tea-riffic grid

Gave it a shot. Thought I was doing pretty good until I realized my half inch grids had a quarter inch squeezed in there somehow!

Thanks, Sabrina. I loved this idea and was able to incorporate it into FS705 Sunstamper's featured Stampers gallery and today's F4A547 friend project. https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/g...&ppuser=419683 by Lori "Artzadoni"

Thanks Sabrina. I ended up using DSP for my background because I was drawing a big blank!
