TLC791 ~ Get Your "Bleach Out" ~ {4/20/20}
Here are the Details for today's challenge: Keyword: TLC791 My Samples: Bleached Prayers Bleached Birthday TLC791: Gallery Submissions
A couple of weeks ago I was searching in the tutorial archives for a technique to try (there is so much there!) and I found one from 2008 that I thought would be fun called Bleached out Images - I wasn't sure I had bleach but I found some and since I wasn't using it to clean (haha), this seemed right. I am pretty sure I only have it from another crafty project.
I shared it with another group and some mentioned not having bleach so before I posted this, I grabbed a bathroom cleaner with bleach to see if it would work. I sprayed it on a paper towel and used it as an "ink pad" for some background textures. It worked! I didn't try to do the image bleaching but I assume it would work - just open a window for ventilation if you try it. It is really quick to bleach out the image and then the coloring is really for shading and midtones - the highlights are already there! (I used alcohol markers, but I think pencils would be great too.)
So your challenge today is to "get your bleach out"! and create - so much more fun than cleaning with it!!
Have fun! I can't wait to see what you make!
Hugs, Lyn
P.S. Here is a heads up for next week's challenge... You will need acrylic paint, pouring media or self made pouring media (made from paint glue and water) optional: acrylic pouring oil, glossy photo paper, and glitter or metallic paint.

Oh, I love bleached out images, though I usually use it with images stamped on sponged backgrounds. Having tried stamping with bleach on multiple occasions over the years, inspired by the amazing beautiful results from other people, I've reached the conclusion that some cardstock just doesn't bleach well, no matter how fresh the bleach. Fun challenge, thanks.

TLC791 vintage HB
I "Julia-fied" and card from a stamping friend- I had to improvise a bit- used chlorine bleach scouring powder to achieve the desired effect. Added some coloring with markers, Did a bit of coloring and blurring surrounding the sentiment- here's vintage HB

It is all good! I love your cards and I think using bleach on your card is really the essence of the challenge! You can try the other way if you want to but you took the challenge in my mind

Very true Sabrina! I found that "laying card-stock" like from Michael's and the Neenah Desert Storm all work well. When I tried a textured/coated colored card-stock - no go!

Yes textured is no go...also found a darker color was better.

Here's mine! This was fun! However, when I opened the bleach, the pull of top squirted bleach over my sweatshirt! Have lots of dots on sweatshirt to remember this technique.
