Default TLC788 ~ Bubble Painting ~ 3/30/2020

Happy Monday everyone!
I hope you are staying 'safe and secure' in isolation as we get through this terrible Pandemic. What better way to get motivated then to try something new.
I have an easy one for you to try today; you may have done it when you were a child.

Bubble Painting

I have had this on my list of techniques to do for quite awhile. After seeing it demonstrated the other day, I thought it was a good time to try it out.
I know many of you have been very busy creating for the VSN Challenges; keeping your kids/grandkids busy, so this challenge is simple and can be done by anyone using regular household items.

Here's how to do it:
1. You need a small container. A cup or mug will work fine. I used the mug sitting on my desk that I wash my brushes in.
2. Fill the cup 1/2 full of water
3. Add a tsp. of dish soap to the water and stir...any kind should work.
4. Add a colour. I used my Distress Re-inkers but you could use any water based re-inker or even food colouring.
5. Stir the mixture well then using a straw, blow bubbles past the top of the cup.
6. Quickly lay your cardstock panel over the bubbles so they break onto you paper.
7. Remove and let dry....now stamp onto the background.

I hope you will come and play along with us.

Looking forward to seeing what you will create!

Be sure to add the keyword TLC788 to your card so it can be added to the gallery.

The TLC788 gallery can be found HERE

Great technique, Karen....but I'm afraid I'm a flop at it. Just don't have your magic, mf : ) Thanks.....I'll try again in the future.

Just thrown away some lovely purple water and some green water with nothing to show for it. Think that is my attempt over - can't be wasting ink or washing up liquid!!!

Janine, I found I needed to add a lot more ink than I thought! Maybe that's why I wasn't very happy when I tried it a few years back.

Here's mine - had to use a spray diffuser to bubble it with. All my plastic straws had perished and were thrown out last time I cleaned the kitchen drawer. So I got a bit of a soapy mouth, but I guess not green or DH would have told me.

Further to my earlier post I did get some red to work - need to make it into a card. The other piece is pale yellow and a hint of blue - pretty pale but at least when it dried there was some colour!

So much fun, I always loved blowing bubbles, ever since my Grandma Meyer gave me a bottle and a wand at about age 3.

My card: TLC788-Under the Sea by parknslide - at Splitcoaststampers. Couldn’t find a straw so had to use a deconstructed turkey baster to make bubbles.

Here is my card. Discovered that dark colors work best and need a lot of ink. Took some trial and error but I liked the effect.

My card was a challenge because I haven't done much in the way of painting on cards and I don't have straws, so I did the next best thing and used bubble plastic, of which I have quite a lot. Here is my card "TLC788 - Make your own Magic". Thank you for the challenge. I had fun with it.

I noticed that many cards used blue for the bubble painting, and I did make several backgrounds with blue too. But I was looking for a sunset scene for my wildflower card for the VSN challenge, and the bubbles gave me a nice, huge orange sun that sometimes you get on a summer evening. I also found I got better results with cheap cardstock, not watercolor paper. Stay tuned for more cards to come with this technique!
Here is my sunset card.
