Default TLC781~Origami Leaf~2/10/2020

Good day, technique lovers! Here's a link to our TLC781 Origami Leaf gallery

For today's challenge, we will follow Dina's tutorial to make origami leaves out of decorative paper. Here is the link:

Origami Leaf Tutorial - Splitcoaststampers

I made two cards and three ornaments, one Christmas and two for spring. I will post them in the first comment box, just in case there are some bugs wiggling around still in the system. My suggestion would be to use fairly thin dp (two sided of course) because it will fold more easily. You could also use double sided origami paper. Remember to use the keyword TLC781 when you are uploading. It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

This is supercool and I want to try it!

I had a scoring board at one point and I have no idea where it is after 2 moves. It’s the Martha Stewart one and you would think it would be hard to lose something that big but I’ve managed it! I’m sure it will turn up again one day so I’m trying not to buy another (that’s how I’ve ended up with three paper trimmers of varying sizes...). So is there a good tip on improvising the scoring without a board? I’m thinking burnished or dead ink pen, ruler and fun foam padding?

I have a scoring board somewhere but it’s currently MIA (the Martha S. one, how I could misplace something that big I don’t know but I managed it!). I know it will turn up eventually so I don’t want to get another. Any tips on a good way to improvise one in the meantime? I’m thinking ruler, dry pen or burnisher, and maybe some fun foam to press on, but if there are better ideas or techniques that others who don’t have an “official” scoring board use, I’d love to know them!

Or, has anyone made their own scoring board and if so how?

I want to participate in this challenge and will take a whack at it with my idea later today (I have to focus on paid work today, boo!) but any ideas in the meantime would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Well huh. I’d written one post, my internet dropped, and I didn’t see it when I reloaded so I rewrote. Sorry about the duplicate, I was looking for a delete button but not seeing it.

Anyway, I came back because right after I posted, I did find this video:

She has a couple of ideas on different ways to improvise a scoring tool and one I liked a lot is using a full or nearly full legal pad, measuring and marking score lines on the top sheet and darkening with a black marker. Then you can line up with paper and ruler and do your score line with burnishing or embossing tool or a try pen that doesn’t have too sharp a point. I’ll try itlater today once I finish my writing work and report back!

Glad you found a workaround - and hope it works. I do for some things resort to scoring with a ruler and an embossing stylus anyway, so I'm pretty sure that should do the job for you. The guidelines idea is neat.

Thanks, Jean!
I'll be along to catch up on the gallery later this evening. Time to go and organise dinner and have coffee lined up for DH.

Thanks Jean for the challenge !
It's been a while since I posted a card, due to an injury on my right hand after I fell. However I couldn' resist this challenge, but it took a lot of effort make this card with a "handicapped" hand wearing a brace  !

Default TLC781 If Frogs Had Wings

Your cards were all so inspiring, Jean, I had to give it a go. I saw Dina's video a while back and today was the day to make it happen.  Thanks to both of you. TLC781 If Frogs Had Wings

Here's mine stuffed into my die cut corner basket!

If you haven't tried this basket go for it!  It's fun and pretty easy and looks wonderful using die cuts!
