So, after you rub off the paper, it's supposed to get sticky again? I've tried it with both clear contact paper and packing tape and it hasn't gotten sticky. Can I spray some fixative on it and smack it on my card?

this was harder to do than I thought. I think I kept rubbing off too much of the backing at first. Doesn't help that I don't have any exciting paper to work with. The paper I did end up using is a plaid design and I had some in green and purple.

Here's mine

Sonia, if you have a Michael's nearby, or JoAnne's, you can buy StazOn there for $7.99. If not, you can order it through Su. I have two of the pads because I use it on virtually every card I make. I bought the pads at Michael's (because I was too impatient to wait for the order to come in) and I bought a bottle of refill from SU. I would definitely free hand with a sharpie if I didn't have StazOn.

Thanks Jerri. I don't know why I thought Stazon was SU exclusive. Never noticed them at Joann's and Michaels need to pay attention! I have a Joann's coupon so off I go!

After a couple of lack luster attempts, I am finding it necessary to let it soak 15 minutes before removing the paper. Also, the magazine print is working better for me than the designer paper. Just an FYI. I'll get a card done yet.

Lately I've been saving the clear sheets that come with things (such as Jolee's stickers, etc...). I haven't tried to use any of these yet, but maybe you have some hanging around and they might work. Worse come to worse, you trash something you were going to trash anyway!

FYI~
I just went to Wal-Mart to pick up some laminating sheets and they have the full size for about $8, but they also have a wallet size option for about $2. I picked up the wallet size. Cross your fingers that this works!! (I don't see why it shouldn't)

I have a couple of cards where I did faux bud basics with a sharpie. Sharpie would work on transparencies. I would just practice drawing your image in pencil or on a scrap first if you wanted to try that method.

Maybe you could try embossing in black??! Just be careful with the heat and the transparency.

Oh, yeah, Jill--the faux Bud Basics with the Sharpie was you! I loved those cards.

You're welcome, Sonia, hope it helped.

Vicky, I love your avatar. It makes me giggle everytime I see it.

I'm cleaning house today, so I won't let myself play until my goals are reached for the day. Hope to get something done later.

I tried this three times and failed. All I got was wet tape and paper shreds. I used my Xyron the last time and only took off enough of the white to barely see through the flower. These really aren't transparent if I had rubbed hard like the directions said the paper would have been removed completely, which is what happened the first 3 times. Not sure what I did wrong but the ink from paper just didn't stick to the adhesive surfaces.
Here is my Translucent Flower Patch

I just had to try out this interesting technique but couldn't find a flower I liked.

Non-flower Transparency

It is very hard to see in the photo but the truck has *happy birthday* written all over it in different colors and fonts.

Here is mine. It took me a few tries to get it. I think I kept rubbing so hard it took the sticky and color off. It was fun and I will have to keep trying it. Thanks!

Didn't have any of the cold laminates or that zenon krypton or whatever that was called so I used plain old packing tape and some images cut from a Ballard Design catalog. Worked great and was so easy. There was still enough adhesive left on the back of the tape, too, so I didn't need to put on anything additional for it to stick to the cardstock. How fun is this!!

Here my card:

I had fun with this challenge. I rubbed off varying degrees of paper off the back. I also initially stamped the musical note in saddle brown stazon then over stamped it with black because I didn't think the brown showed off enough. I plan on doing this technique again, thanks Beth!

So, I did a few more using this technique. Got a little carried away with 2 of them. By the third I toned it down.
I LOVE doing this tech.
