What a crazy hectic day! I finally was able to sit down tonight, albeit rushed, and make a card. I love the background and I really like the stamped image, but I don't like the two together. Yep, it'll go to Mom.

Ok, I did have time to do this today! It was fun! I did one with eggplant, artichoke, and silver and another one with Navy, Ballet Blue and silver. I haven't used the blue one yet. I love the purple so much, I just had to use it first. I would like your opinion though: I didn't want to cover up all of the layer with the polished stone bg...so I'm not sure that the card is 'balanced'. If you think that I need something more at the bottom of the card, please express your opinion. I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say. Thanks for looking. Now, I'm off to make the blue into something.

Here's my card: http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...43888&cat=5883

Those of you who are using metallic ink, what are you doing to "set" it? Hair spray? Acrylic spray? Embossing powder?? Do tell! My last experience resulted in the acrylic spray taking days to dry and then the BGs stunk up the house even after all that time!

Thanks for the suggestions, I may have vodka not sure as my drinking occasions are few and far between. Am headed to the cupboard to check.

Wink Polished Stone Resist

Well, I do have the metallic reinkers, but elected not to use them. Instead, I decided to try something different - I did a Polished Stone Resist. I didn't emboss first, just stamped w/VM and then let dry. Polished Stone technique over the VM, and it resisted! That was a fun surprise (thought it would only work if I embossed it). Like the softer look that way. I will have to make more of these types.... thanks, Beth!

Here are my two:

I finally got one done today, I started this morning and did fine with the technique and butterfly but couldn't get my layout to work for me. So I quit looking at it until late this evening and then it all just fell together...I'm a night person!
And now that it's late I can zip through the gallery, I only got a look at Sue's cute frog this morning and SCS has not cooperated all day.

Here's my butterfly card

Here's my second card using this technique...i plan to make more of this type of background paper. I really love the look. I only wish the metalic color would show more with the scan.

The SU pen doesn't work, you actually need one of those paint pens. Ranger may make them. I have tried the one SU sells several times, it does not "blend". I hope you have better luck than me, or figure out the secret.

Thanks for this challenge! I have never tried this before and it was alot of fun! I made several different backgrounds in different colors, the only thing was I had trouble putting together a card using the backgrounds! This is my first attempt- it is very bright! IRL it has alot of dimension with pop dots everywhere.(hard to tell from the photo) Thanks for looking!!

Default Polished Stone spin-off

One of the workshop WOW's in Vegas is a spin-off of polished stone she called Tipsy Stripes. The technique is the same, you just drag it across in stripes. Hmmm...maybe a future challenge? Here's my card.

I combined TLC 55 and 56 in my card. I am trying to catch up on my challenges. I really like the results. I have to confess I did use a piece of polished stone that "suen" sent me in a RAK's. Thanks again Sue. Enjoy, Nancy

This has got to be my favorite technique. It is so easy and results in such beautiful backgrounds. My challenge is what to do with the backgrounds once I've made them!!

I made 3 pieces of PS yesteday, one I used on a card yesterday, one I tossed because it just did not do anything for me and the 3rd one I used today as the body of some fish on a Father's Day card.
Thanks for looking

Well, I tried it. I didn't have any metallic reinkers so I tried the method justampin did with embossing with metallic beforehand. It turned out alright. I also tried it without any metallic ink at all and it turned out alright too...I just didn't like the color combo I chose. I also did it with cottonballs and gloves. Amazingly, my gloves stayed clean!!

I was so frustrated trying to get my polished stone to look "polished" and glowing like all the samples in the gallery. Mine all looked muddy and flat. I finally gave up. Then, in bed last night, I thought hmmm, maybe I should brayer and spritz! I know, not a "true" polished stone, but it has some of the look I was after! Here it is:

I had a hystercomy last week, not feeling like stamping a whole lot lately, but the week before my surgery. I did a paint can using polished stone. This was my first polished stone attempt.
