I cleaned out my box Beth! Here is a card I made this afternoon...not much stamping but I loved the colors and clean lines so much I didn't want to take away from that.

http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...12642&cat=3063

May still be pending,
Julia

Is this going to be as addictive as the faux cloisonne? I have a mess in my stamping room from magazines not to mention gold EP. I am so addicted to that technique. Now it's time to start something new. I guess I better go clean my room so I can make a new mess. I love everyone's cards. You are all so creative.

I actually found some time to join in today. I finished one, but I'm using it as my card for the Christmas Card Challenge for January (yeah, I'm just sneaking it in), so I need to finish the rest of them before I upload. Back soon...

Is there an easy way of measuring or figuring out how big/small to cut your pieces....I've tried and it just doesn't seem to ever come out right...? Any suggestions would be great...thanks in advance.

I haven't had time in the last week to play in the challenges, so it was fun to join back in. I combined mine with CCC06 (Christmas cards). I don't like the work involved in getting all the pieces the right size & lined up, so this is probably not a technique I will use, but I'm happy with my card.

Here's my Christmas Roses.

I drew out a grid ahead of time and made each square 1 inch with an eigth of an inch space between and then designed the pattern around that. The longer pieces would then be 1 inch by 2 1/8" as you don't have the space. I hope this makes sense and helps you out.

Ok, so here's my attempt. I don't really like it, I wish I had a template. I wanted to have more "blocks" but I couldn't get it to work. Anyway, I'll have to work on another since I'm not too happy with it. It seems like it's missing something.

Default Help

I'm a challenge lurker, actually. I don't get much time to stamp, but I think the challenges are inspiring & I love to see all the talent out there.

I have always liked the look of color blocking, even for scrapbooking. But, for some reason, I never get myself to actually do it.

When I'm looking at these samples I can't help but wonder: If the various blocks are cut to random sizes... how do you get the black borders to be exactly the same width all over the card? I'm sure there's a lot more planning involved than plunking down random shapes.... but getting everything even has always been a source of stress for me.

Thanks,
Nicole

Everyone's cards on here are gorgeous!!! Very tough acts to follow! I've never tried this technique before & have always wondered myself how someone manages to get "just" the right sizes for what they need! (Meaning those who said they had no template.) No wonder some of you spent an hour or more on your card!!

I just now got on here to find out what's been cookin' as I didn't have time to play today...but I will give this a shot tomorrow and see if I can come up with something! Thanks for the challenge!

Hi Ladies.
I've never even been on this challenge forum before - except for VSN - so it was wild that I came here today.

I was desperate for an idea for a b-day card for my dad (TODAY!) and I saw some of the great cards here.
I decided to give it a try.
It was SUCH a relief to have to fit w/i some guidlines while making this card.

Thanks SO much for the challenge and inspiration. I think I'll be coming back around here when I'm having difficulty!

Image pending...
