This technique really scared me at first (putting something non-SU! on a card -- yikes!) But I eventually put together something that ended up with an oriental feel to it. Here it is:

Here is my attempt. This was really fun. Guess I won't be throwing out magazines any more.

Ok, my question is-do you have to separate the colors like I did on my dragonfly or can you just use magazine pics and emboss them? I thought to make it Cloisonne you had to use different colors on either wing like Michael Strong did in the directions. What makes it Cloisonne? Just the gold separating? Or the varied colors with the gold? HELP! Anyone know for sure? I'd like to teach this in my Technique class!

of, relating to, or being a style of enamel decoration in which the enamel is applied and fired in raised cells (as of soldered wires) on a usually metal background

lol...well, that's the definition! I just looked for pretty colors...lol!

Question

So, you don't have to do different colors on the wings? You could use the same part of the magazine picture?

My "take" on this was that for mine, I did EACH petal flower on a different magazine pic, but I think I could've just embossed the whole flower on one pic and then cut it out and placed wherever on a card. I think it still looks great either way...now that I've looked at everyone's gorgeous cards!!

I also think it's cool if you do wallpaper, like that one gal did, or wrapping paper, or BG papers like I did on my second one. (hint: upsell for your BG papers as well as the EP!!!) Did that help anyone's question?

yep! I think you ARE supposed to mix them up, but it looks pretty the other way, too! I did one (didn't upload) using Island Blossoms, but those flowers aren't separated into sections. ?? Am I being too much of a purist here?!

So as I was flipping through the pages I found these colors and the rest is in the description of the card.
I don't think the pattern shows that well on the flowers but it's sort of a fluffly look kind of like a dryer sheet. And it came from a Kenneth Cole ad not Kennedy like I said in the description. Anway......

Here's the card

I got some great daisys done, but I'm lost as how to lay them out on my card. Mabye if I leave them on my table they will be all arranged when I get up in the morning. LOL

Really loving the technique, makes me realize though I need more open stamps. Guess I will "have" to shop.

I LOVE this technique I did not want to stop. My hubby had to tell me to come to bed several times. I'm teaching a stamping class at church and I want to use items from around the house. I am gonna teach this technique The results are just beautiful. Well, I think so anyway...I loved everyone's cards so far.

Yeah, but I sure changed some rules! I'll try another one in the darker colors but you know how things just jump out of the mind and say do me first! Does anyone else know exactly what they want to do, pull out the set, walk over and get another set and before you know it the card is done and you sit there wondering what that other set is doing there! I started out with Flutterbys and didn't even get a butterfly on the card! Now you know why my favorite show is 'Lost'.

Hey, thanks for the quote...I see I can't spell either! I fixed it in my post.

Me to, Rox! But that's just being creative, right? I'm a big fan of Michael Strong, and I always enjoy his projects on HGTV. I've even made several of them but hadn't tried this one yet. At least I finally used some of the magazine pages I've been saving for a couple of years already. Anyway, thanks for the great challenge, Beth! Obviously, it's a big hit, and the week is still young. Here's mine:

//www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=209073&cat=500&ppuser=7835

Now, the only problem is I've got a lot of left over cut-out fishies that I will have to think of something to do with.

Thanks! Well, they're a little small to use as tags, but maybe a stringer of fish . . . uh-oh, I feel another card coming on!

I finally had time to play. I used wrapping paper. I like the finished result, but I thought it was way too much putzy cutting.
