I am lovin' faux linen! I used this week's SC to make a calendar page with the whole page out of the faux linen!

faux linen calendar page

I just realized that the faux linen is kinda hard to see! Oh well.

Default First Try...

Here is my first try. I used a sanding block so it is rather light. Will have to go out and get some heavier sand paper tomorrow. Made the same card again only added some ribbon and eyelets to fill in the space between the flowers. Sure is fun to play around with.

http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...p?photo=172227

Thanks for checking it out.

Default First Timer Needs Help

Hi! I have been absolutely loving everyone's faux linen cards. They are breathtaking! So, I decided I would try my first technique challenge. I went to the hardware store and got 100 grit sandpaper. I tried it this morning and mine looks like hapharzardly placed scratches as opposed to the subtle look of linen. Any helpful hints? Did I press too hard? Should I use a fingernail sanding block? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!!

When I did mine I ran the sandpaper in one direction only not back and forth. Then I turned the paper 1/4 turn and did it in that direction. If you look at linen it has lines that go at right angles to each other. It does take some practice to get the right touch--it's not as easy as all the veterans make it sound!!

and this one took on a life of it's own, LOL!

believe it or not, this little guy has been sitting in my gallery since February! I'm not crazy about the layout (would do something different with the turquoise layer) but I like the linen part.

Okay I think this is the first time I've ever done a tech. challenge. I've spent some much time oohing and aahhing over everyone's linen that I hadn't found the time to make one myself. Well I couldn't stand it any longer so here's mine...
Naturally Beautiful Linen

ETA: The caramel looks burgundy for some reason, but IRL it is a nice light tan earthy tone, just what I wanted

Default Anniversary Card

I am so glad you posted this challenge. I learned a wonderful new technique and made this card that I just can't wait to give to my DH for our anniversary. Thanks so much for all your effort with providing these challenges. You have made me into a better stamper.

Here is my card

Another faux linen BG.......love this technique. Inspired by a rainy, windy day on the Oregon Coast and Jeanne S's striped BG linen. Has been approved.

Does it have to be done with glossy? I don't have any. I have never had any. I need someone to convince me why I need to buy a more expensive white than I already have.

I've been gone for the last 4 weeks and have been without internet access. I am trying to catch up on everything I missed and wish I had time to comment on all of the wonderful cards. They are all so creative, fun and beautiful. Now I need to find time to get back to stamping.
