Very cool. I just love the creativity that comes from this group!

Ok, I'll admit it, I am a Technique JUNKIE. I just can't help myself. Even though I thought I couldn't do this technique because of supply limitations, I was able to come up with something that looks pretty close. I took a white crayon, a piece of cardstock and a fiskars texture plate. I placed the paper over the texture plate and layed the crayon on it's side and did a rubbing. Then I took the paper and sponged color over it. Where the crayon couldn't get into the texture plate it left a resist area that would accept color.

What do you think of my Faux Embossed Wax Paper Resist card seen HERE?

This was fun, fairly easy and not messy! All good things! I didn't want to put too much on my card because then you wouldn't be able to see the technique! Here it is: http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=53845

It took most of the day, but mine is finally done, too! What a GREAT technique, and I'll use it again. Just as soon as I can get my hands on some more glossy cardstock! All I had were a few small scraps.

Default My second card

I had to use the other piece of glossy paper, so I made another card. Here is my Wax Paper Pomegranate card.

I haven't done the Technique Challenge in a while, so I hope the fact that I did two today will make up a little bit for my lack of participation.

I did this a year or so ago in a VSN with the crumpling of the wax paper - and I loved the technique then - this worked well with the cuttlebug folder! here's my fishin' card: http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=93535

Cool technique! I posted my submission for yesterday's featured stamper challenge, and I thought I'd check out today's TLC challenge, but I really needed to go take a shower and get ready for the day (including meeting DH for a lunch date), so I walked away. But then when I picked out what I was going to wear, I needed to iron my shirt, so while the iron was heating up, I decided to take a quick peek at the challenge.

How delighted was I when I saw it was using the wax paper resist technique...a technique I had never tried before, but one that needed the same iron I had just plugged in! I quickly scanned over Beate's tutorial and ran and grabbed my wax and glossy papers. I did the technique exactly as described in Beate's tutorial, and I was pretty sure the finished product would be fantastic. Then I went and jumped in the shower.

While I was in there, I thought to myself, "I wonder if you would get the same result if you were to dry emboss the wax paper, or even better, run it through an embossing folder." Well, wouldn't you know, when I sat back down and looked at the instructions Lynn wrote up for the challenge, that WAS the challenge! And here I thought I was becoming a genius...oh well.

Here's my card. TFL!

HUGS!

Default Well I did it!

A day late, but I thought about it all night long.

I have never looked at the Home page that far down to see the challenges... another Dork mentioned it so I had to look! Glad I did... I think I will more often!

I've actually done 3 this morning, but my pictures (colors) aren't coming out right.

I'm gonna give this to my bf grama for her 79th b'day this month.

Fun technique, Lynn! I must admit that in future I will pick my image first and then the background, lol. I thought with this bg I could do a masculine card but I had nothing that looked right with it. Oh well, who can't use another feminine card?! Here's my attempt at the Embossed Wax Paper Resist -

Question clarification please

I read how to do the original waxed paper resist. I think I might be having difficulty transferring those directions to the card using the same technique, but with the embossing folders. Do I only put the waxed paper in the embossing folder and run it through the Cuttlebug? Or do I put the glossy cardstock AND the waxed paper in the embossing folder in the embossing folder and run it through the Cuttlebug at the same time? Am I keeping the waxed paper and inking it, or am I keeping the glossy cardstock and inking it?
Maybe I am just being dense. I am very excited about yet another way to use my Cuttlebug embossing folders. Those things are addicting!

I can't wait to try this. On this one, I'm not sure when to use the iron either.
I DO know where my iron is. Do I get any points for that? I hope the iron still fits my hand. Not sure how long it's been since I actually used it.

You run the wax paper only through your machine in the cuttlebug folder. You don't need the wax paper once you have done the ironing part. You iron the wax paper onto the glossy cardstock and ink that AFTER the ironing process.

Be sure to read the original directions, one step at a time and you should be fine.

I can't wait to see what you create!

Finally got some wax paper! Believe it or not, I don't keep any in my house. I use parchment paper for most things or reynolds wrap.
Parchment does not work for this technique so I finally spent the $2 on some real wax paper!

It was worth it! I really loved how this turned out.
