Here's my embossed and shimmery card:

Snowflakes

I LOVE this technique and wish I would have left more of the acetate showing!

"Now you are ready to finish your project as you like. I have found that with the acetate coated with the lumiere/reinker mixture makes it a little tricky to stick with regular adhesive. One idea would be to attach the acetate with brads or eyelets..."

Lynn,
An easy way to mount it onto the card would be to matte (like you matte a photo or other art) on top of the acetate if you don't want brads to show

I have everything but the embossing machine but I am going to a friends house Fri. Night that has one so I'll make up some acetate and take it with me and use her machine. I have a couple of other ideas for a way to use this technique, I'll let you know what happens. Melissa @ ihaveprettierstuff.blogspot.com

Cool technique! I've had the lumiere for a couple of years and haven't used it much. Thanks for giving us another way to use it.

Here is my attempt - Embossed Shimmer Snowmen

I love this technique. Need a bit more practice for even spread of color.
If you turn this just a bit, you can see the embossed image. It is hard to
see here. Almost didn't post this, but take a look. Thanks Lynn for this
challenge.

A few months ago while I was at Joanns......I saw this Luminere on a clearance rack....for .75 a bottle....there was a white with blue shimmer, red shimmer, super sparkle and white pearl.........I figured, what the heck. and got a bottle of each at that price (and they were in perfect condition, not dried up at all)

...well, until this thread I really didn't seem to interested in using it.......here is what I did........

I LOVE shimmery cardstock, so I thought, if you can use it on vellum, why not card stock...........I used a piece of SU Handsome Hunter and coated it with the super shimmer.........let dry and ran it thru my CB with the Divine swirls folder..............it turned out awesome.........shimmery but yet with the color behind it..................

Alot cheaper than buying metallic or shimmer cardstock and now I can make any shade of color I want........

try it....it works great!

Default Oh Ya!

I am going to try it on white cardstock mixed with my pearl Ex colors .....I want to see what kind of color combos I can dream up and even though the vellum method is beautiful, I find it harder to handle than the cardstock and my fingers don't co-operate with me all the time....LOL

I will post my results when I get them finished if they are worthy

I posted a card using the lunimier on cardstock. It does shimmer in person and the cardstock embossed fine. I still don't have any acetate (not sure where to get it) so I saw a post from someone saying they did it on cardstock to make shimmer paper so I thought I'd give that a try.

Default TLC 185 Embossed Shimmer

Just added my card to this gallery, it's my first upload of a technique challenge. Hope I did everything right.I started with the stipple brushes but finished it using sponges which worked quite well. Backed the acetate onto JAC( double sided adhesive paper) and that worked out also.

I wanted to keep it simple to show off the great affect of the technique. Thanks so much fo a fun challenge

Hi, I now have a second card on the gallery using the shimmer technique. That is, the embossed shimmer technique without the embossing.
