I'm off to play......I don't know if I have acetate... may try glossy white if I can't dig up some. It only took me a few peaks at some of the gorgeous creations, and I am determined to reward myself with a beautiful card after my Monday Home Blessing!!!

Oh wow, that was fun. I also tried it with Opal Liquid Pearl and that worked well too, but I don't have time to make it up into a card. Definitely a case where the background is the focal point of the card!
Say it With Flowers
It is more shimmery than it looks in the picture, and as the glue isn't yet dry it shows under the Dew Drops, but it will dry clear .

Very cool technique!!!! I'm curious on the brass plates, too, as I do not have a Cuttlebug.

I have a question: Is the glossy, unpainted side of the acetate the down side?
I assume the actual painted side that has the raised CB folder imprint is the up side?

The un-painted acetate side is the up side was my understanding. This - 8. Run your painted acetate sheet through the Cuttlebug (or whatever machine you use) in your selected embossing folder with the painted side down (facing the bottom of you embossing folder) You can probably see at this point why using Lumiere is preferred due to the shaping of the acetate (to avoid the possibility of the acrylic paint cracking - is how Lynn desribed it. So when you mount it on the card, the acetate side is the up-side.

Had to vary this somewhat since I only had a sheet of already stamped acetate. Couldn't do the technique on a whole panel but did it on the leaves, ran it through the CB, then cut them out. It's an awesome technique and glad to finally break open my lumiere bottle that I've had for years without using. It gives such a beautiful shimmer...here is MY CARD.

Lynn, you are as into acetate sheets as I am into clear embossing powder! lol

I only had a few scraps of acetate sheet, so I couldn't do a full card front, but I like what I came up with. I hope you can take a look and let me know what you think.

My card

Thanks,
Karen

your sample is really pretty. I'm wondering why you couldn't do the embossing first though thus eliminating the cracking worry. Your stippling would still get inside the embossed areas wouldn't it?

Very interesting technique - loved it. Here's my

Cute as a pumpkin

I used orange, yellow and hunter green reinkers. The sentiment was cut in half and says "Cute as . . . a pumpkin" - it doesn't show up in the photo - sorry!

Off to cut grass - have fun - back to comment asap!

If this is true, maybe I could emboss with my trusty old brass embossing templates. Now I just have to find a suitable substitute for lumiere or pearl ex. I don't have any craft stores near me. All I have is Walmart. I know someone asked if it was like fabric paint. Is this the case?

Acetate is what overhead transperancies are made of. Overhead transperancies can be found at most office supply stores, walmart, & target.

Lumiere is a metallic type paint that can be found on-line and in many stamp and/or scrapbook stores.

You could possibly, but I was going by the instructions provided to me. Also, you will have to be careful as not to "fill up" the grooves made by the embossing, as you would loose some of the transparent effect with too much "substance" in the grooves. Please give it a try and let us know how it turns out...love it when new ways are found to do things.

Well, I didn't exactly have the right supplies but I improvised by using Versamark direct to acetate and brushing on Pearl Ex and then spraying with hairspray.

Thanks Lynn, Great new technique. Here is my snowman card.

I suppose I could just go try it and see, but if you or anyone has any info or ideas, I'd be interested to hear input.

Thanks! Can't wait to see all the results!
I'm in the same boat and am going to try it later by hand. If you get to it first, let me know .

FYI - i was just at walmart and found a metallic Pearl white acrylic paint. It has shimmer to it. It's in their craft dept. and made by Plaid/Folk Art. I have not tried it yet to see if it gives the same shimmer as luminere.

Love the look this gives, but alas, no lumiere here!!! Plenty of acetate, though!!! Hahahaha! Been out of touch since Friday....internet provider decided I didn't need to be online. After 2 calls to INDIA for repair, I gave up and called Time Warner and got Roadrunner installed this morning....YAYAYAYYAYA!!!!! I got great pleasure in calling my former IP and cancelling my internet with them!!!!
Anne Ryan, I am so jealous that you are close to Archiver's!!! I've only been once to the Raleigh store and can't afford to go very often. I did way too much damage when I was there. Can't wait to see what you come up with, though!!!
