Maybe that is why I had such problems! I ended up just setting my iron over the top and leaving it for about a minute. It was still not a good stick. It would be quite easy to peel it off. I might have to try again once I get new wrap. I think the technique looks awesome though!

Another seashell hot card. This time I used a different background color cardstock so you could see the difference.

Here are my attempts at this challenge. Love the technique and am going to use this one a lot. It is so easy and I want to try with some of my background stamps later. Deb http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1

Here's mine. I combined it with the color combo challenge. I'm still not sure about this technique, but it sure looks cool! The technique, not my card!

Help!!! I could not get the plastic/tissue to stick to the cardstock, perhaps it is because I have renoylds wrap "no Stick" plastic wrap. Any thoughts?? I will pick up some cheap stuff and try again after work, the tissue paper still looks pretty with the plastric behind it, it gives the tissue some strength so I will figure out a way to use. Thankks for any suggestions, Nancyruth

Nancyruth, I had to turn the iron up to high, and press harder and iron longer than I would have thought I needed to. You might try again if you are so inclined...although I must say I like your idea of just using the tissue/plastic layer as it is!

I finally got to try this out! Here's my sample (but it might be pending). Notice, I put TLC21 instead of TLC12! LOL -- that's what happens when you wake up at 5 am to iron saran wrap to cardstock before work.

Default Hot tech

I wanted to add to this thread my experience. This is the same technique that I use to make my napkin/tissue cards. I use just plain wax paper to iron between and have found that the cheaper thinner clear wrap works best. The heavy duty wrap takes so much heat and time to melt together that you end up scorching your paper before it adheres well. It was great fun to read and see all the things you all tried for this challenge!

I found this tissue that I loved that was the same print just in reverse on the color. Stamped a greeting and added a ribbon. Real easy and fun. Now I am putting the iron away for a while! Here's the link if you want to look:

Here's another attempt at this technique. Although, I got tired of waiting for the iron to melt the plastic, so I ended up xyroning the tissue paper and sticking the paper directly on the cardstock.

Using up one of the backgrounds I made last week with 'clouds' tissue paper. It is hidden under vellum. This card is a loose interpretation of SC22:

This combines TLC14 with a background made for TLC12. It's gold and black so perhaps it qualifies qualifies as monochromatic too?

Okay, so I'm really SLOOOOW at getting to this technique. I tried several different types of plastic and nothing would melt. Darn Microwave stuff!! I didn't really want to ravage my dry cleaning bags either. Anyway, I took Darttella's suggestion and just used Stitch Witchery and it was so fast and easy. I just posted the first one. I have background done for three more but don't know when I'll get to them.

I posted it 4pm PT today so don't know when it will be approved. Hope you enjoy!

I combined TLC12 and 13. I made a hot card that was monochromatic. I also had trouble with my plastic wrap - it wouldn't melt! I used a dry cleaning bag and voila! I'll have to head to the dollar store to get some cheap plastic wrap so I can play some more.

Default Help...it's not working

I've tried to do this technique twice and both times it hasn't worked. What am I doing wrong? i've layered according to the directions and have ironed about 30 seconds at a time in one place and then changed directions with the iron for a total of 3 minutes. i haven't used brown bags but have used heavy brown paper. have let it cool down instead of taking the brown paper right off. when i go to remove the brown paper, the paper is sticking in spots and in other spots it hasn't adhered. trying to do for a workshop tomorrow and really frustrated. would appreciate some input.

I just did 2 of these as part of the challenges that my Mom and sister and I do with each other.

Here's the first one. I'll edit this post later when the second one is approved.

I learned this technique years ago from watching Carol Duvall, but they used it to make envelopes. Instead of the parchment paper and plastic wrap, you use freezer paper. You iron the crinkled tissue to the shiny side of the freezer paper, then cut out using any envelope template. I used the idea to stamp my own tissue paper to match my cards, then make envlopes. It makes beautiful envelopes - try it!

PattyB directed us to use this technique for this month Wish-RAK group's Monthly Card Contest. This napkin was big enough (and pretty enough) to make four great birthday cards with it. http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=87307
