Technique Lovers Challenge 06
This week's technique is the Spotlight Technique.
Please be sure to add TLC06 in the keywords section when you upload the card, and to post a link to it here in this thread so we can see it.
I think this is one technique where a visual is required before you read the how-to.
Here are two of mine that I created for this challenge.
http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1
http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1
There are many *fabulous* examples of spotlighting already in the gallery...search on Spotlight to find them.
Ok, now that you have seen an example or two, here's how to do it.
The spotlight technique is where one part of the image is colored, and the rest is not. Stamp the image on two pieces of cardstock. On one of the pieces, color in the part that you wish to be highlighted or "in the spotlight". You can use markers, watercolor, pastels, whatever you want. Using a shape punch, punch out the colored part. Using a slightly larger punch, punch another shape in a coordinating color of cardstock. Mount the colored image on the colored cardstock, then mount the layered piece on top of the other original piece of stamped cardstock, being sure to center the colored image on top of the uncolored image.
Ok, have fun!

Thanks for another great challenge.
Another one that I haven't actually taken the time to just sit down and do it. I will now!

Jodi, I'm the same way...this is certainly not a new technique, but I had never actually done it myself until this past week. And that is what this challenge is all about...trying out those techniques!

Here is my spotlight card. I don't know if this classifies as a true spotlight, but I had this idea and had to try it.
What do you think?

I was away for 10 days and just couldn't wait to get back to the challenges, I combined the technique and color challenge on this card, and for once, I am quite pleased with how it turned out.
Thanks for another great challenge - as always

Okay, this isn't technically a spotlight card, but it was inspired by this challenge.

I've got a real spotlight one done too, just waiting on approval.

This is my last challenge for the night. I have to go to bed. I have to get up at 6am! It's 12:30 now. Bythe time I upload and post it will probably be 1.
Had fun though! I never tried this technique. I always wanted to, but never took the time.

Good night all!

Here is a different take on the spotlight technique that I did quite awhile ago. (It was actually the first card I uploaded to SCS!) I love finding new ways to twist old techniques!
