TLC939 A Tisket a Tasket, a Zentagled Basket 02/20/2023

Happy Monday!!

Today's challenge is a "basket weave" Zentangle background. The technique may look a little tricky but as long as you follow the tips Natasha provides in her video it is really pretty simple and super satisfying!

The great thing about this technique is that EVERYONE has the supplies needed - a black pen and paper. This background can be finished in so many ways. In the tutorial, she leaves it black and white which looks amazing, but I decided to shade mine with alcohol markers to look "basket-y". I think it could also , look fun with bright colors as well.

The beauty of this background is that you can use any or all of the finished piece to create your final card which really gives you so many options.

NOTE: One of the things that hung me up and may get you as well is when you are turning the page to go in the other direction. After my first "row" I realized that you can't start out on the "outside" on both directions. If you go "outside" first while going across, you need to go "inside" first when you turn the page to go down. Essentially every square has 2 outs and 2 ins (parallel to each other) - I hope this helps because it sounds confusing without having it in front of me :)

I can not wait to see what you come up with!!

Hugs,
Lyn

Remember to use the keyword TLC939 (no space) when you are uploading. It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/show photo..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

Was planning on doing this anyway! Thanks, Lyn. The tangle is actually called Huggins, invented by one of the daughters of Maria from Zentangle.com. It's a little a different than what Natasha did, not sure if I'll do the 'authentic' one or the Natasha style one.

Thanks for the background! Zentangles have always fascinated me! I can't wait to see which one you do!

Cool, fun! Zentangling normally intimidates, me, but this was super-fun. DH was very impressed with how it transformed. Thanks, Lyn. I had to go and search for the video because I'm in the small minority of people who still can't see videos in posts since the third-last site upgrade, but your description made it easy to find.

Thanks for the challenge, Lyn. It was easier than I originally thought. I combined it with today's CAS.

HAPPY EASTER

I saw Natasha's video the other day so I gave this a try yesterday. I need to watch the video again because I kept forgetting which side of the square the lines went on. I did find out you can make circles or just dots but the squares give a better basket look to them. I will give this a try after I watch the video again! Thanks!

Pleased that I managed it but I spent ages!
My piece was therefore cut in 2 so I have 2 Easter cards

I did another piece and will turn it into a card tomorrow. I just did dots instead of squares and goofed up a couple times but it still turned out okay.

Here's my 2nd attempt. Better but not great. The butterfly hides one goof. I did dots instead of squares.
