Default TLC910 - Faux Handmade Paper - 08/01/2022

Like Beverly last week, I too am revisiting an older gallery. I can't remember how I came across it - I had the tab open in my phone for weeks, and then got a new phone about two weeks ago and fortunately I could remember what to look for.

This is NOT a stamp-your-own DP, it's a specific technique with acrylic paints. Lynn learnt it from Pat Huntoon in a Technique Junkies newsletter way back, and featured it as TLC225 back in 2009. It appears I did make a card back then but my daubing/pouncing skills have certainly improved in the intervening years - not to mention my supply of acrylics!
The original gallery can be viewed HERE.

I've synopsised Lynn's instructions and here you go - have fun.
For today's technique you will need:

Cardstock: 4-1/4" X 5-1/2". Light coloured cardstock works best
Rubber gloves if you don't want messy hands.
2 or 3 complimenting colours of acrylic paints (any brand will do)
1 colour Metallic acrylic paint- gold, silver or copper
And the most important supply: toilet paper.

1: Cover your work space so that you don't accidently get acrylic paints on your work surface.

2: Squeeze out a quarter sized amount of each of your paint colours to a washable or disposable work surface (palette, etc)

3: Wad up the sections of toilet paper (enough that you can use it as a dauber) and dip it into your lightest colour of paint.

4: Use a pouncing motion, dab your first colour onto your cardstock being sure to leave space for your other colours. You will notice that as you work, tiny bits of the toilet tissue will come off and stay on your cardstock. THIS IS GOOD it will give your project that look of handmade paper.

5: Using the same piece of toilet tissue move to your next colour, loading up the wadded toilet tissue and pouncing just as you did before, covering the spots left open. Continue this process with your next colour if you have chosen to use 3 different acrylic paints.

6: Lastly, add metallic highlights by finishing off your technique and applying your metallic paint sparingly since this should be a highlight to your overall effect

7: If you need to go back over some of your darker or lighter colours to cover any vacant spaces, feel free.

Today's gallery is HERE: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

And my card is here. I had planned to use the red and silver for something Christmassy, but I couldn't pull it together.

Remember to use the keyword TLC910 when you are uploading. It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
