Default TLC871 ~ Foil Stained Glass ~ {11/01/2021}

Happy 1st of November to you all.
I thought that this week we could revisit a tutorial from Falliday Fest 2019. I know it's not that long ago, but I don't feel that I've seen many people (me included) go back to it. Time to fix that...
France's sample showed autumn leaves, but I remember at the time I made a Christmas card, and that rich metallic shimmer and shine is certainly perfect for that, especially if you have any large-ish bauble/ornament stamps.

The tutorial is HERE: Foil Stained Glass on Tutorial at Splitcoaststampers

If you don't have heat-proof acetate, no problem. I can see the rationale behind the heat-embossing, it helps suggest the leading in real leaded glass. But for my leaf card, I simply stamped with StazOn on regular acetate, and followed the tutorial apart from that. And you should all know where your StazOn (or similar, I've always found both Archival and Brilliance (given enough time) will set on acetate) is after Jean's Acrylic Smash challenge .
I have Sharpies in a very limited range of colours, which is what I used for the leaf card. For the butterfly, I dropped alcohol inks on and dabbed with a felt applicator, just using a Sharpie for a few fine details.

I asked Anita to flag last week that double-sided adhesive sheets would be required because I did try spray mount and it was a total fail - a sticky mess with all the colouring coming off on my fingers and everywhere else. I'm pretty sure that if you brushed on a thin layer of something like gel medium it would do the job, but you'd have to do it twice, and the adhesive sheets are easy.

* As this was a Falliday Fest tutorial, when you are uploading to the gallery the first drop-down menu choice is Technique Spotlight, then you choose Holiday Blitz and a third drop-down appears, which is where you will find Foil Stained Glass.

Remember to use the keyword TLC871 when you are uploading. It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

Sounds fun. Can't say I have ever tried it but who knows. Hope I get some crafting time to try this later in the week.

I was intrigued by this technique, so I tried it for the Falliday gift tag challenge. As is so often the case with me and techniques, I ended up doing substitutions for some of the required ingredients. Here are the Foiled tags by stampingwriter at Splitcoaststampers I made.
