TLC849 ~ Eclipse Technique ~ {05/31/2021}

Hello everyone and welcome to another TLC Challenge.
Today, we are doing a fun technique called
TLC849- Eclipse Technique

So often when I am finished creating a background, it seems a shame to cover it all up with a sentiment. So by using the Eclipse Technique, you can still see the whole background.
There is a tutorial called Two Tier Eclipse in the Tutorials for those of you that like to see a step by step video.
Two Tier Eclipse Tutorial - Splitcoaststampers

I like to do mine a bit differently by die-cutting the sentiment 3 times on plain white cardstock, gluing those together, then gluing it onto the die-cut piece.
Here are some helpful tips:
1. Be sure and save all the pieces when you die-cut as you will need them to be fitted back into your background piece.
2. Choose a die that doesn't have too many cut away parts...it will be a lot easier when you try and fit them all back into place.

The TLC849 can be found HERE.
The card I created for this challenge is called:
Botan Peony

I'm looking forward to seeing what you create!

Don't forget to upload your card to the technique gallery also.
Remember to use the keyword TLC849 when you are uploading.
It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.
If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

Love this technique; thanks for the prompt, Karen! Your peony is gorgeous. I made two cards - the first is using patterned paper to do the heavy lifting: Doxie Birthday

The second one is a little more elegant: Happy Day Bergenia

Thank you for the challenge, Karen. I needed to make a card for a friend and used this to get it done:

Here 'tis: jolly. I'd done other eclipse cards with a light bg and dark shadow. This time I tried a dark bg, reclaimed from a Christmas card, and a red shadow.

All the cards posted in this challenge are really amazing and give me inspiration for trying this new (to me) technique soon. Don't have many die cuts but I do have a butterfly which I saw used and a Happy Birthday. Worth a try, what have I got to lose, except maybe some paper and I have plenty of that.
