Default TLC820 ~ Don't lose your marbles! ~ 11/09/2020

Good Monday to all! I bet you thought we were going to do that oldie but goodie marble background...nope, we're going to do alcohol ink marbling. This was done a few years ago as a MIX, which I didn't do since I wasn't active at that time, but I happened upon a Jennifer McGuire video and thought it looked like fun. I think it's great to find a new way to use product you have. You only have to watch about 6 minutes of this video or maybe less if you get the hang of it. Just have fun and experiment.

I'm sorry, when I put in my cards, I lost the video. I'll ask Sabrina to put it back in. Didn't expect that.

I had a blast making a lot of backgrounds. You don't need many colors of ink for this if you only have a few; I found using two or three that blend well together work best. I also decided to spray them with a fixative when they're dry. Hair spray would be fine, I'm sure. They do take a bit to dry because they're just white cardstock. I'm sure you could hurry it along with your heat tool.

Here's a link to our TLC820 - Don't Lose Your Marbles gallery

Here are my cards:
FF20jrholbrook Snowflakes of Peace by jkanack - at Splitcoaststampers

FF20jrholbrook All That Glitters by jkanack - at Splitcoaststampers

Remember to use the keyword TLC820 when you are uploading. It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)

4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

Again, I'm sorry I lost the video. If Sabrina can't get it back in, just go to You Tube and look up Jennifer McGuire's alcohol ink marbling video.

I'm guessing that's the video you want.  I'm not going to mess with that post.

Lightbulb Alternative suggestion

**** If you don't have alcohol inks and still want to try, I have got good results in the past by scraping chalk pastels over water. In fact, I was considering using it as a TLC some years back.

Ah, Sabrina, I meant to put that in the write up. Thank you for adding that. Man, where would I be without you and the rest of the smarter people here?

Well this was fun!. I had better luck with my blue and purple colors...I tried red but it wasn't the best. My red ink might be old. I also didn't like the clumps left by the perfect pearls so I sprayed some of mine with a water and perfect pearls spray I have on hand. I got some really good backgrounds so I made 2 cards..combined with Falliday. Thanks Jean for a great challenge...

This technique is addictive!  Hope my panels dry soon (I did hit them with a blast from the cool setting from hair dryer, but still not dry enough to play with).

I did an experiment after I created the AI panels; I had some pigment sprinkles and watercolor paper on my desk; got some clean water, added some of the pigment sprinkles and dunked the watercolor paper....it didn't marble; however, I may try again and dry the panel before adding another color.  Seems with the sprinkles whatever was the last color added to the water is the color that became dominant.

I learned the AI technique at a craft convention a year ago but we used glossy cardstock.

Hope to have a card posted later tonight.

I have had a little headache all day and perhaps explains why I've had an off day.  Nothing that coffee and chocolate won't fix.  Thanks for the easy and fun technique, Jean.  And thanks for working the polls!

Here's my failed piece with the gold mixative, also incorporating one of the blander pieces for the grass.

I loved the videos and really wanted to try this, but really wanted to work on a BAJ page so I made up a way to do faux marbling.  I know it doesn't fit the challenge that well, but I did try and I do appreciate the inspiration, Jean.  THIS is my page. Hugz

Default Hello

A fun challenge Jean!  I made a few of these, using mostly the same colors.  I made a card for a friend today and used one of these backgrounds!

I have a few more backgrounds left to create with!

I have a few Digi images of fairies so I chose one of those to color for the Fantasy challenge on the Alphabet Challenge today and I am combining this with the TLC Challenge for AI marbling!

Default TLC820

Took a long break (several years) from stamping, and it has been a bit of a challenge just remembering how to use the plethora of supplies I have sitting in my craft area. I appreciate these challenges because they truly help me as reminders of what I used to do. Thank you!

Unfortunately, I'm not able to post URLs because I haven't made 3 or more forum posts, but it's there in my gallery. Thanks for the fun!

Fun challenge. Although I did make some alcohol BGs, I went with the shaving cream for this card!

Thanks to everyone who created in the TLC this past week. I'm so impressed with your prints, they all look like you had fun. I see a lot of blue and purple, such great colors for holiday cards.
