TLC789~Adhesive Resist~04/06/2020
Good day, all who like to make a mess and those who force themselves to make a mess...not messy today though. We are going to try a new tutorial called adhesive resist. Essentially it's putting a matte adhesive through a stencil, letting it dry and then blending color on top. The adhesive part should remain white. Sabrina, Anita and I have tried several adhesives, some don't work at all, like Mod Podge or Tacky, others are just ok but the adhesive part takes on color, so the one that has worked best is any matte medium. I happen to have three different types of matte medium (don't remember why!) and they pretty much worked the same. I also tried making my own matte medium, using school glue and water. The ratio is about three parts glue to one part water. The results were different but still interesting. If all else fails, you could put Versamark through a stencil, clear emboss and proceed. I made four cards, one with each matte medium and one with the homemade version. I will put the cards in the first post. Have fun! It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card. If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how: 1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread. 2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link. 3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on) 4. Click EDIT. Click COPY 5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE. |

My top tip - think about the stencil you're using! The one I thought of first had a LOT of white space, and just as I was about to start brushing my Mod Podge (don't) on, I realised that what would look best is smaller white accents and mostly background colour.
Sneaked in quickly for a photograph whilst warming cinnamon rolls for breakfast. DH has set up his work station right where I normally take photos. Off now to check on my rye bread and start the housework. TLC789 Ageless Birthday |

Fun Challenge Jean - I REALLY appreciate your mention of what doesn't work as those are exactly what I have here . . . I had to go with the alternate method which turned out pretty cool since I do have clear MATTE EP. I decided to let my panel be the card since it provided the message I wanted to convey.

This looks like fun...not sure I have any matte medium, I'll have to check.

I made a couple of BG's and cards using your stencil resist technique, Jean. (Saving one for the April Fan Club Gallery) Great fun and I thank you. I highly recommend DecoArt Lustre Cream for stenciling ease. This one is going into the tea party gallery, too. MMTPT611 TLC789 Dream BIG

Thank you for a great challenge. It was indeed a new technique for me, I had only done an embossed resist before so another under my belt. Thanks again. Here is my TLC789 - Thinking of you. Thanks for looking. Cheers.
