Default TLC763 ~ EIONA Two Batik Options ~ {10/07/2019}

Happy first Monday in October to you all. Where have the months gone! I can't believe how fast they just zip by.

For our Everything Old is New Again this month, I thought we would revisit a couple of earlier challenges featuring two very similar batik techniques. I know there are other batik type tutorials in the Tutorials section, but these are the two we are focussing on in our TECHNIQUE challenge today.

From September 2008 we have TLC188 Batik-The Colorwash Way {09-29-08} which is pretty much the same as the tutorial for Burned Batik : Lynn proposed colourwashes, but any water-based medium will work well.

And going back even further, in April 2007 Melody gave us Mulberry Batik for TLC114: TLC114 Mulberry Batik with the tutorial being found here: Mulberry Batik
If you don't have mulberry paper - and while I did have a couple of sheets, I know it's outlived its trend and is harder to come by now - Melody said that coffee filters also work well for this, so that's what I tried, and got a good result. I used gelatos to add colour after embossing, and then a baby wipe to blend the colours a bit.

Here's a link to our TLC763 EOINA: Two Batik Options gallery

Here's my card: TLC763 Butterfly

Remember to use the keyword TLC763 (and optionally either TLC114 or TLC188 ) when you are uploading. It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case of typos with the keyword, or the occasional gallery search problem. And be sure to upload your card to the Technique Spotlight gallery to add to the library of inspiration. Choose Technique Spotlight from the first drop-down menu, and whichever of the two batik options you chose from the second dropdown. .

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

I often forget about these "oldies, but goodies", Sabrina. Thanks for bring them back to the forefront. Had fun with this one.

I'm sorry about that, Anita. I'm sure you can turn them into something lovely, knowing you. Are you using clear powder? But I'd have thought even with white, you're really ironing it all out anyway.

the one I made with coffee filter stuck to the paper during the ironing so it is lost forever....and yes I've used clear EP and I used several layers of sheets to put the embossed paper between

That's strange, because when I tried mine with the coffee filter I was thinking of you! I'm sorry, it's frustrating when something doesn't work :-(. I've been there with a few of the gel plate techniques.

Good after noon to all. I’m not sure I’ve done this technique correctly. I hope it qualifies. I almost burnt my paper. I used white embossing powder instead of VersaMark. I was able to take the shine off of it thou . Thanks for the challenge...I’ll have to try it again.
