Default TLC736 ~ EOINA Acrylic Block Stamping ~ {04/01/2019}

I was trying to think of something for April Fool's Day which would give you a shock and make you say "She cannot be serious, does she really expect us to try that?". But I'm not really that type of person. I do remember one year when the sketch challenge fell on April 1st and Roxy posted a somewhat challenging spoof sketch, and then posted the proper one later. In the end I made two cards with her spoof one!

Anyway, as it is, obviously, the first Monday of a month it's time for Everything Old Is New Again. I thought we'd revisit stamped acrylic block backgrounds, which featured as TLC524 four years ago. It was a technique I always struggled with, and I was always amazed at what other people were able to achieve with it. Maybe it's because I never tried with pigment inks before - for me, the distress oxides were a game changer with this technique, compared to using regular distress inks as I had been previously. Mind you, that's what Beate used in the tutorial, and I've seen plenty of gorgeous regular distress ink creations. So do whatever works for you.

In the Challenge Chat thread a while back, Angie mentioned that one of her problems was being able to stamp the block straight. I use my Stamp-a-ma-Jig, which solves that issue - or an alternative is to die-cut a panel AFTER stamping your block background, when you can make sure that it's straight within your die-cut panel. But that won't work if you're primarily a one-layer card person. I've done one of each in my samples.

Also if you have blocks with curved edges, they can give a great effect.
Don't have any acrylic blocks? I'm sure you could use a CD case though it might be a little more unwieldy to manage.

The tutorial is HERE, and to upload to the Technique Spotlight gallery (which helps build a great reference resource), choose Technique Spotlight from the first drop-down menu, and Stamped Acrylic Block Backgrounds as the second option.

Here's a link to our TLC736 EOINA Acrylic Block Stamping gallery

Here are my cards:
TLC736 Toucan Birthday
TLC736 Lanterns and Butterflies

Remember to use the keyword TLC736 (and you may include TLC524) when you are uploading. It's helpful, especially to the hostesses, if you come back and leave a link on this thread .

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

I haven't used this technique in probably 2 years so it was fun to see it featured again.
Here is my card for the challenge:

If this was a "spoof", I loved it, Sabrina! : ) (I know you said is was NOT a spoof) A fun way to create a background. Thanks.

Even though I have other projects I need to work on today I couldn't stay away from this challenge. Thanks for bringing this one back....I hardly ever use it and it works so well with those DO inks.

Good afternoon, and happy April Fools Day. I have a friend who was born on this day, and she constantly tells people that’s why she is so weird.

I have two today.

Default Easter Bonnet time

Hello, I made this card a few weeks ago, knowing my craft room would be 'under reno' currently. I tried using the acrylic block for background starting with the yellow (before seeing this challenge) and gave up pretty quickly as it didn't work for the project as well as i had hoped. but i saw this today and wanted to join in and wish you all a Happy Easter and hoping you enjoy the week with friends and family. i will try the acrylic block again though and love the cards you all made! ENJOY Teresa
