Default TLC679 ~ 3D Word Dies {02/26/2018}

It's Sabrina here with your end-of the month challenge today. The 3D Word Dies is an older tutorial but one that hasn't featured here in the TLC challenge - and now most of us have so many more word dies to choose from, so I thought it be a fun technique to feature.

NOTE: This is NOT cutting three or four layers and stacking them up. You'll need to pull out pencils or pens and a ruler this week, to create something a little like the dropped shadows in Microsoft's WordArt. Who doesn't remember those?

Please don't tag your card for this challenge unless you have used Dina's tutorial linked below , although you may of course combine it with popping your word up if you wish.
  • You can find the 3D WORD DIES tutorial by Dina in our Tutorials section HERE
My two top tips - pay attention to the fact that Dina says to keep all the little bits from inside the letters. You WILL need them. Note also that she says to draw from each each point and the bottom of each curve along the bottom line of the die-cut. You'll get the best 3D effect if you do this: in my haste, I missed that point in my first sample, which is in the gallery but not linked in this thread.
  • You can find the Technique Spotlight gallery for the technique HERE, and I hope by the end of this week it will have at least doubled in size. Remember to choose Technique Spotlight from the first dropdown option, and 3D Word Dies from the second menu. We really truly appreciate it when you take the time to do this.
Here's our TLC679 3D WORD DIES gallery.

Here's my card: TLC679 Hello Sunshine

Remember to use the keyword TLC679 when you are uploading. It's helpful (to the hostesses for sure!) if you come back and leave a link on this thread .

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

This looks challenging - might look for a short word for the first try

I watched the tutorial twice and hope I got this close to right - I wasn't always sure where the lines should hook up to - but maybe in the general scheme of things it doesn't make alot of difference since the illusion is still there . . . .

This is my second effort. I will revisit it to see if it can be salvaged. In the mean time, here is my card that I did complete. Simple really, after the major effort for this technique - lol

I made this card on Tuesday but just haven't had the energy to get it uploaded until now. I had some surgery a week ago and it really has taken more out of me than I was expecting. Hope you like my one and only card this week.
