TLC202 Tacky Glitter
Be prepared to sparkle and shine...not only your paper, but you can bet some will be on you too! Today we'll create unique background paper for just about any project. Are you ready to shine?
What you will need for this technique: - Glitter - for a dramatic effect, choose two or three complimentary colors of glitter
- Tacky Tape - Red Line variety. Size doesn't matter...it just depends on how wide you want your glitter strips. I used 1/4"
- Cardstock
- Soft bristled brush and/or dryer sheet
- Typing paper (or any scrap paper)...on 1/2 sheet for each different color of glitter you will be using
FIRST IMPORTANT NOTE: Shoo the kids and pets out of the room to avoid any glitter mishaps.
- Cut your piece of cardstock to the size of glitter paper you want to create
- Lay down and adhere line after line of your tacky tape (LEAVE TOP PROTECTIVE PAPER ON AT THIS POINT). You can align your strips of tacky tape by using a ruler or grid paper for equal spacing. I just used my SU! grid paper pad
- Select your first color of glitter - lay down one of the pieces of typing paper (to catch the extras) and place your cardstock on top of it. Now remove the top protective paper from ONLY the strips you want to color with this particular color of glitter and sprinkle the glitter on top of each of the exposed tacky tape, pressing the glitter gently into the tape.
- Shake off excess glitter by tapping the paper and using your brush or dryer sheet, remove any last remaining bits of glitter from your cardstock before moving onto your next color of glitter. Return unused glitter into the container, seal and put away to avoid any unnecessary glitter spillage
- Select your next glitter color and repeat steps 3 & 4. Repeat as often as needed - depending on the number of different glitter colors you are using.
Now look at the wonderful paper you have created! Isn't it beautiful...and don't YOU sparkle as well? (I've never found a way to use glitter without getting it on me too.)
Complete your project, using your glitter creation as an accent or base for a stamped image.
Other Ideas:
Place tacky tape in various directions for added interest
If you have different sized tacky tape, alternate thinner pieces with thicker ones
Stamp your image first onto the cardstock and place tacky tape around the outside of your image
Punch designs from your finished glitter paper to create a stunning one-of-a-kind embellishments

Be sure to use the keyword TLC202 (no spaces) when you upload your project.
Hints for next week: 12 X 12 patterned paper - thin chipboard (like you would find on the back of a note pad)

Very pretty! Makes me wish I had some tacky tape laying around. This might even be something the glitter challenged (me) could do!

Ooh - gorgeous.
I love using my red-liner tape with glitter. I've done frames, but never thought of stripes like that. Better go and do the dusting first, or I'll be spreading more glitter than I clean up dust!

You could try Dawn, but I haven't tried ATG adhesive, so I'm not sure how well it will hold the glitter in the long run. Go ahead and give it a try and let us know how it works.

What a fun idea. I'm eager to try this later on. I must go out for awhile this morning and think it's best that I wait 'til I'm home...I usually end up with glitter everywhere.

WOW! What a technique...Here's a TIP: Wear a Black Sweater and Black knit pants while attempting this technique. That way, you will have a sparkle filled Holiday Outfit for NEXT YEAR! LOL! Needless to say, I have GLITTER all over my house now....Time to clean, AGAIN! LOL!

New to me
I don't think I've ever tried this before. I only put two strips of glitter on my card. Please take a look and let me know what you think.
Praying for you
Hugs~
