Technique Lover's Challenge #3
This week's challenge is Acetate and Tissue! Check out Beate's tutorial on the resources page and then give it a go! https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/r...es/acetate.php
Please put TLC03 in the Keywords section. And please come back to this thread and post a link to your creation. A couple things I learned while playing around with this technique this weekend: Disposable gloves are a big help! Crystal Effects dries pretty quickly on your skin and it *sticks* LOL Less reinker is better than more reinker! Be careful when choosing your colors...they do blend together which can be pretty wonderful or pretty muddy! Have fun! Can't wait to see your lovely work! :D Here's two of my attempts at this fun technique.... http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1 http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1 |
   I don't have the stuff for this one
I can't do this one, but I will enjoy seeing what you all come up with. |
I AM SO EXCITED YOU ARE DOING THESE ON MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was just thinking how it was 3 LONG days till a challenge... WOOHOO! Let's go get to WORK!
|
Ohhh, fudge, I don't have all those things either, but I'm gonna make something up with those "ingredients" that I do have :)
|
Welp, I have the stuff, but gotta go run erands! :) I'll be working on this one later today though!
|
I think I have everything for this but I've never tried it :)
|
I do have everything to do this :)
Can you also use the future floor wax instead of CE? I thought I'd seen that somewhere??? |
I'm gonna try it - I have all the supplies. I really don't trust that my first attempt will be anything special, though, but I am willing to try! :)
|
Well, here at my thoughts for those missing some supplies...here are some substitutions that *might* work.....
Crystal Effects: Future Floor Wax, Elmer's, Aleene's Tacky Glue, any glue that would dry clear. Window Sheets: these are the same as overhead transparencies at any office store. Tissue Paper: toliet paper? a single layer of Kleenex or paper towel or napkin? a coffee filter? a used dryer sheet? Reinkers: hmm. Might actually need the reinkers! LOL Please note that I have not tried any of these, just thinking out loud so to speak. Give it a whirl with what you have, and maybe you will create a new technique! :D |
I have been admiring all the great cards using this technique, but hadn't gotten around to it. Your palm tree is outstanding, by the way.
I will now be "forced" to give it a try. Thanks! |
Me again. I was surprised this was already off the first page. Maybe if you "bump" it tonight, we'll get more samples!
|
my first attempts at this went into the trash can! But after a few times, it gets easier. I found that I was adding way too many drops of reinker, which made the background soo dark, that I couldn't see the image. I was able to peel off the tissue paper before the CE dried (which took off a bunch of the color), and replaced it with a new piece of tissue paper. Also, sticking with shades of the same color (all greens and blues, for instance) eliminate the 'mud' color you can get if you mix colors on opposite sides of the color wheel.
Good luck! |
Ok, I gave it a whirl. I think I mixed the colors too much, but oh well. :? It is on the window ledge drying. It really stuck to my scrap paper, so I unstuck it before laying it out to dry. Some reinker went under the window sheet. Only time will tell - will post when it is dry and I make it into a card...

Technique Lover's Challenge #3
I don't see my post so I'm going to post again. Hope it doesn't double post!
Here is a link to my acetate and tissue sample (but it's pending approval since I edited to add the TLC03 keyword): http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=4 |
Ok, here it is! It's not great, :? but I really like the technique and I am glad I decided to try it! I will try to do it better next time! :)
Go easy on me...>>> http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1 |
The first two samples are FANTASTIC! Great job, Jeanne Marie and Janice! :D :D :D
|
Hello... Here is my version of the acetate and Tissue Challenge! It was fun!

bump!
|
WOO~HOO! I finally did a technique challenge! Wow this was really fun. :D I learned a lot doing it. I can't wait until the kids go to bed to try this out again!
http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1 THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU for posting this challenge!!! |
I love the sunset, stampinhappy! Thanks for playing along!
Hopefully some of our evening folks will see the challenge and play....maybe I fooled everyone by moving it to Monday!??? :? |
Jen, somehow I missed your card earlier....WOW! Beautiful!
I love these sunsets :D :D Makes mine look like a storm is a comin'....LOL |
I use Elmer's Glue instead of Crystal Effects and have also been successful with FUTURE wax. I don't have many re-inkers, so I usually use acrylic paints and they work just fine. Since they are a little thicker than re-inkers - I often spritz with water and then put the glue on.
|
|
Hey, I guess I did it. Finally I am getting the hang of this posting.
|
Mine are drying now but it's off to bed. I'll have to see in the morning if they turned out or not :)
I was too chicken to try mixing colors together to avoid getting mud. So I stuck with one color and they are all just that one color. Don't know how it will turn out. |
Technique Lovers Challenge #3
OK, I went back in some of my older cards and found another one I had done. Here is the link:
http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1 |
all of these look great! Keep 'em coming! :)
|
I did the first step last night and need to make them into cards tonight.
I was a chicken and used all one color. I think they look ok but would look better with at least 2 different colors. Might have to play around some more tonight! Also, I used future instead of CE and it worked fine. |
Here is my 1st try for this technique. It was soooo easy. I always admired all the cards using this technique, but I never wanted to try it because I thought it would be hard. I love this technique.

Here's my fake version ;)
http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1 Hope it is not too fake ;) |
Got mine done :)
I was the one who only used 1 reinker color because I was afraid of what I'd end up with. I like how it looks but think that I want to try one with more colors. http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1 http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1 http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1 Thanks for the challenge!! |
Here's hoppin you'll like mine!
Yay! I did it! :D I was always so intimidated by this technique, but it was actually pretty easy! The hardest part for me was getting a clear image on the transparency. My shaky hands kept flubbing it up, so I'd have to clean it off and start again. It probably would have been better if I'd used lighter colors, but I'm still in the process of adding to my collection of reinkers, so I'm limited for the time being. I really had fun with this one, so I may have to try another! Here's my first one though. I added glitter to the bunnies, but I don't think the scanner picked it up. I'm hoppin' you'll like it!

Sorry for the repost!
Okay, that was weird! After my first post, I couldn't see it show up on the forums, so I reposted and then saw both my first and second post. When I tried to delete the second post, the first post dissappeared again. So, I reposted the second post, and the first showed up again. Go figure! I guess I'll just leave it!
|
BUMP!
Bump. I want to see more samples! :)
|
After many tries and some pretty disapointing results... here's one that I'm kinda happy with:
http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1 I had stampers block for a little while with this technique. :) still working on one more card too. |
Here are my contributions to this challenge...I did them in stages since I'm not feeling too great yet. I did 4 cards total but one of them I had a problem with the upload so I'll have to try again later on that one. I did two of the cards with glitter and two with PE...I personally like the PE ones the best. Here are the three that I successfully uploaded:

Here's my second... I combined the sketch challenge and this one:

I finally got time to make two contributions today, and I really enjoyed this technique. For anyone who thought Rhyme Time was too detailed to deal with, this is the technique for you! Here they are:

Ok, here's the 4th card I did...for some reason this card is having quite the time making it to the gallery, :? it got bumped out on the first upload and now it's been hanging out in pending for a while. Hopefully it will be visible soon.....Pending at 8:20 PM
